KALEIDOLAPSE nKaleidolapse is a visual technique that applies a kaleidoscopic effect to different shots taken with time-lapse technique.nThis effect generates multiple moving images that are symmetrically multiplied which gives them an abstract look with a great richness of shapes and colors. nThe music together with the movement rhythm of the images will set the character we want to give to the video.nnKALEIDOLAPSE: nEs una técnica audiovisual consistente en aplicar un efecto caleidoscópico a distintas tomas realizadas con la técnica del timelapse.nCon la aplicación de este efecto se generan imágenes en movimiento multiplicadas simétricamente, lo que confiere a las mismas un aspecto abstracto con una gran riqueza de formas y colores.nLa música y el ritmo del movimiento de las imágenes acabaran de configurar el carácter que se le quiera dar al video final.nnnBARCELONA:nOur city, one of the most beautiful cities in the world.nnBARCELONA:nNuestra ciudad, una de las más bonitas del mundo.nnnBARCELONA KALEIDOLAPSEnSince we saw the implementation of this time-lapse kaleidoscopic effect, we felt the need to play with this technique.nWe wanted this Kaleidolapse to have a common link in all its images so we dove on our hard drives to look for the time-lapses we've been doing in the city of Barcelona during the last 4 years. nWe selected those images that we thought that could work better with this technique and we chose the music: a great hit of the New York American Dollar “Signaling Through The Flames”. This time-lapse was inspired by the “Empty America Series” by Ross Ching and the Nibiran jungle scene in Star Trek Into Darkness. When I first saw the scene in Star Trek, it made me wonder how color infrared would look if we could see it with our own eyes, unaided by IR filters. After seeing the movie and watching Ross’s series I thought about how a totally empty city (such as Philadelphia) would look in Kodak EIR style infrared.nnHope you all enjoy and thanks for viewing!nnAddition Info:nAll scenes were shot around Philadelphia using my full-spectrum camera and a yellow filter. A full spectrum camera is a camera that has had it's IR blocking filter removed, allowing the camera to see into the infrared. The yellow filter blocks all visible light up to yellow and allows infrared to pass through. The first scene and time-lapse title was prompted by an infrared series that I’ve been shooting over the years called “Wonderland”.
