How to Build a Time MachinenDirected by Jay CheelnProduced by Kristina McLaughlin, Kevin McMahon, Roman PizzacallanExecutive Produced by Michael McMahonnCinematography by Jay Cheelnfacebook.com/TimeMachineDocntwitter.com/TimeMachineDocnfastandscientific.comnnFor information: jay.w.cheel@gmail.comnnHow to Build a Time Machine is the story of two men, both inspired by H.G. Wells' 'The Time Machine', who have set out on a quest to build their own time machines.nnWhen Rob Niosi decided to build a full scale replica of the time machine prop from George Pal's adaptation of H.G. Wells' novella 'The Time Machine', he had no idea what he was getting himself into. The three month project is now in its eleventh year, and he's not sure it will ever end. His perfectionist attitude and obsessive nature -- cultivated by years of detail oriented, time consuming work as a stop-motion animator -- has elevated his machine from prop replica to a true work of art. His goal? To capture the impression he had as a kid when he first laid eyes on the beautiful machine.nnWhen Ronald Mallett was a young boy, his Father died unexpectedly of a heart attack. This event turned his world upside down. He became ostracized from his friends and family and found solace in science fiction. It was H.G. W ells' The Time Machine that inspired Ron to pursue a career in physics. His goal? To build a time machine so he could go back and save his Father. Less

Industry disruption is possible by focusing on providing deep, meaningful engagement to people that use your products or services. This is achieved by designing products that seem as though they have a personality, or even a soul. In this talk, you’ll learn how to achieve this, by leveraging design in a product management capacity. You’ll learn an end to end process that uses empathy to create products people love. Less

There are three primary fears creatives, like artist, illustrator, and author Christoph Niemann, face: the fear of not being good enough, the fear that our work will be irrelevant, and the fear of running out of ideas. Niemann explains how these fears are very real, but that there are solutions we can apply to each. Less

2015 Future of StoryTelling Summit Speaker: Beau LottonNeuroscientist & Founder, LottolabnApply to attend: www.fost.orgnnBeau Lotto’s research into perception has shown that we don’t see the real world—just our version of it. It’s a version we’ve evolved to perceive, where shadows, shapes, and even how we understand time are meanings we ascribe to what we’re seeing. Our senses are telling us stories about the world—and we can control those stories to change our perceptions and ourselves. Digital technology that’s purely virtual can’t totally engage with our perceptions, but when it augments the physical reality we evolved in, that’s when we can truly occupy the space between the real world and what we want it to be. The price of a barrel oil has plummeted since July, allowing millions of Americans to fill their gas tanks for less than $2 per gallon during the summer of 2015. n nHowever, that cheap price at the pump could lead to a major wave of unrest in the Middle East. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia depends on oil revenues to control their people and hold enemies at bay. n nThis For the Record Short investigates how cheap gas prices could end in a “Revolt in Riyadh.” Less

Much of Western Europe is struggling to manage the overwhelming migrant crisis. It has been reported that more than a half a million people have fled war-torn regions of the Middle East attempting to find refuge and thousands have died in transit. nnIt appears most of those trying to enter Europe are escaping Syria and seeking asylum. However, there is mounting evidence that others are only posing as refugees and are on missions to spread their radical ideology and commit acts of terrorism. ISIS has claimed that it is using the crisis as cover to smuggle thousands of fighters into the region.nnWhile Western allies try to confront the crisis and formulate a plan to deal with the threat of terrorism, Secretary of State John Kerry says the United States will increase the number of Syrian refugees it will allow into the U.S. this year.nnGeert Wilders is a Dutch MP and the founder and leader of the Party for Freedom in the Netherlands. He is a leading voice against what he views as the Islamization of his country. In this For the Record short, he warns that the migrant crisis could turn into a disaster for the West -- especially if leaders insist on putting political correctness ahead of national security.nnYou can learn more about the crisis in the For the Record episode "It Is About Islam," available on-demand now at theblaze.com/fortherecord or on TheBlaze app. Less

Pakistan national Tashfeen Malik posted a message of support for ISIS on Facebook prior to the San Bernardino, California attack that left 14 people dead. It’s follows the same pattern as other ISIS-linked strikes on the west -- including the November 13 attacks in Paris and the May 4 shooting at a Prophet Mohammed cartoon contest in Garland, Texas. n nThe former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Gen. Michael Flynn, said the Obama administration ignored warnings about the rise of ISIS because they didn’t fit their narrative leading up to the 2012 election.n nIn a February 2015 interview, Flynn told TheBlaze TV’s For the Record that one of the biggest obstacles in the fight against ISIS was that U.S. leaders failed to adapt their plans when the facts on the ground didn’t match their preconceived ideas.n n“I tell my boss, ‘this is what the enemy is, this is how I think the enemy is going to fight us. So if he decides to continue to fight his plan and not the enemy, that’s a mistake,” Flynn said.n n“I’ve seen that quite a bit, actually, where you disregard the threats that you’re facing and you stick to a plan and the plan has no connection to the threats that we’re facing."
