The daughter of jazz legend Nat King Cole, Cole rose to musical success in the mid-1970s as an R&B artist with the hits "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)", "Inseparable" and "Our Love". After a period of failing sales and performances due to a heavy drug addiction, Cole reemerged as a pop artist with the 1987 album, Everlasting, and her cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac". In the 1990s, she re-recorded standards by her father, resulting in her biggest success, Unforgettable... with Love, which sold over seven million copies and also won Cole numerous Grammy Awards.nnNathaniel Adams Coles (March 17, 1919 - February 15, 1965), known professionally as Nat King Cole, was an American musician who first came to prominence as a leading jazz pianist. He owes most of his popular musical fame to his soft baritone voice, which he used to perform in big band and jazz genres. He was one of the first black Americans to host a television variety show, and has maintained worldwide popularity since his death.nn"Unforgettable" is a popular song written by Irving Gordon. A non-orchestrated version of the song recorded in 1952 is featured as a bonus track on the CD reissue of 1955's completely instrumental (save the bonus material) Penthouse Serenade. Cole again recorded the tune in 1961, in a stereo version of the Riddle arrangement, for the album The Nat King Cole Story. His version of the song was included in its entirety in the 2009 film Watchmen during the Comedian's death scene.nnIn 1991, after Elvis Presley's legendary musical director Joe Guercio had the idea, Cole's 1961 recording of the song was edited and remixed to create a duet with his daughter, Natalie, which won three awards at the Grammy Awards of 1992: Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance.nnLyrics:nUnforgettable, that's what you arenUnforgettable though near or farnLike a song of love that clings to menHow the thought of you does things to menNever before has someone been morennUnforgettable in every waynAnd forever more, that's how you'll staynThat's why, darling, it's incrediblenThat someone so unforgettablenThinks that I am unforgettable toonnNo never beforenHas someone been more oohnnUnforgettable in every waynAnd forever more, that's how you'll staynThat's why, darling, it's incrediblenThat someone so unforgettablenThinks that I am unforgettable too Less
