Clashes broke after a group of 1,000 protesters, many of whom students, took to the streets of downtown Lima to protest abortion laws, Wednesday. Led by the 'Let Her Decide' movement, the demonstrators want the legalisation of abortion, which is illegal in Peru, even in the case of rape. The only time abortion is allowed in the Latin American nation is when the mother's life is in danger. The unrest began when the planned protest went beyond the agreed route of protest, leaving University Park and entering Abancay Avenue. They marched on to the front of congress, blocking roads in busy traffic. Police deployed water cannon and tear gas to disperse the crowd of protesters. At least five militants have been killed in a bomb attack blamed on pro-al-Qaeda group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, the ISIL. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the bomb was planted under the militants’ vehicle in the northwestern province of Idlib. The militants belonged to Ahrar al-Sham . a bridge which has led a week-long battle against the ISIL. The bomb attack took place as the Ahrar al-Sham was preparing for an assault on an ISIL base in Idlib. To the eastern city of Raqqa, the ISIL members surrounded the home of a commander from another al-Qaeda-linked group, the al-Nusra Front.
