The Artemis Women In Action Film Festival April 24-26 this year! The festival was created to celebrate the great action films starring kick-ass women. And it is the very first of it’s kind. There is tremendous talent that has been long overlooked with these kinds of films and we are very excited to put a spotlight on the folks responsible for bringing the content to the world. nnThe two phases of the festival are 1) a film competition highlighting new and undiscovered talent and films and 2) honoring the classic and present talent forging ahead in the genre. nnInitially, we were planning a small, intimate festival. However, our response has been SO STRONG and ENTHUSIASTIC, we are going to shine a very bright light on women in action films. Today we are launching a crowd-funding campaign and are spreading the word far and wide as possible. We have an incredibly ambitious financial goal with this crowd funding campaign. We need all the help we can get! And EACH and EVERY dollar brings us closer to making the ‘dream’ a reality. nnI hope our vision inspires your participation in the campaign. Everyone who participates in the crowd funding campaign will be acknowledged as the founders of the festival! You have my eternal gratitude for all your help!! Less

Stateless Democracy: How the Kurdish Women Movement Liberated Democracy from the StatenKurdish Women's MovementnDilar DiriknnChaired by: Maria Hlavajova (BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht)nnDilar Dirik is an activist of the Kurdish Women’s Movement and a PhD candidate in the Sociology Department of the University of Cambridge. Her work examines the role of women in the Kurdish liberation movement, by comparing the ways in which the commitment to gender equality of different Kurdish parties is related to their stance on institutions of power.nThis lecture addresses the role of the Kurdish Women’s Movement in emancipating the project of national liberation within Kurdistan. Dirik will specifically address how the Kurdish Women’s Movement opposes the violence of states, but also that of male patriarchal domination. Understanding the overarching systematic oppression of society as perpetuated by the capitalist, nation-state-oriented, dominant world order, has brought the Kurdish Women’s Movement in opposition of the concept of the state. Here, the state is seen as a replication of patriarchal relations, which they believe can only be undermined through principled gender equality in radical democratic confederalism beyond power, nationalism and the state.nnThe New World Summit: Stateless State took place at the Royal Flemish Theater in Brussels, Belgium, 19-21 September 2014 Less

In the summer of 2014, several of Miami's top female street artists came together to paint a large wall in the Bird Road Art District in Miami. Over four summer days, these talented artists braved the South Florida heat, humidity and daily thunderstorms to complete the wall. A special exhibition called "WALL 2 WALL WOMEN" was held on the final day of painting at the HarrisART Gallery in Miami that featured works by all the artists.nShot and edited by Dan Perez www.SouthFloridaFilmmaker.com Less

Pierre (Stanislas Merhar) and Manon (Clotilde Courau) make low-budget documentaries and live off odd jobs. When Pierre meets a young trainee, Elisabeth (Lena Paugam), she becomes his mistress. But Pierre doesn't want to leave Manon - he wants to keep both women. As Pierre twists in the wind, especially after a revelation from Manon, Garrel carefully dissects the foibles and follies of a man who cannot commit, and the frustrations of the women caught up in his indecision. After JEALOUSY and A BURNING HOT SUMMER, Philippe Garrel delivers a new variation on the theme of romantic passion, the birth and death of relationships and the strange paths of desire.nnClip provided by Cinetic Media Less

At only 20 years of age, Lizzie Armanto has been re-writing skateboarding history. A native of Santa Monica, California, Lizzie started skating in 2007 with her younger brother. Since then she has dominated women's skateboarding, competing in the men's division in international contests, and most recently winning a gold medal at X Games just a few days ago.
