Police deployed tear gas and rubber bullets against the demonstrators, and protesters are said to have thrown Molotov cocktails at police. One protester, who identified himself as 'Mad Mike,' said the protests are retribution for the August 9 shooting of unarmed African-American teenager Michael Brown by white police officer Darren Wilson. He added that people had "better watch themselves." The latest violence comes after more than 2,000 people attended a service for Michael Brown that lasted for roughly two hours at the Greater Grace Church in Ferguson, listening to speakers including the Rev. Al Sharpton, the family of Michael Brown, civil rights lawyer Benjamin L. Crump, Martin Luther King III, Jesse Jackson and American actress Keke Palmer. Also in attendance was a cousin of Michael Brown, Eric Davis. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon imposed a curfew on Sunday amid unrest in Ferguson triggered by the shooting of Brown. The curfew is to continue on Sunday evening and Monday morning.
