If you trace these songs back far enough they tell a story of where I've been and what I've seen along the way. That said, most people don't have the time to sort through the hundreds of songs that have collected in the wake of my 20 plus years behind a piano, and that's why I love "Cecilia and the Satellite". As a song it encapsulate so much living against the back drop of a new life. Cecilia was written with the knowledge that my wife and I would soon meet our first child. With the hope of avoiding territory this type of song often treads, I tried to create a road map of the life I had lived leading up to that moment. One my daughter might look back on some day. A strange life of constant motion, spent traveling in the pursuit of music. A life I've nearly lost on more than one occasion and one which I am thankful for, now more than ever. Deep down this song is about more than me and where I've been, it's about more than my daughter and what I want for her. It's about being proud of where you come from and wanting the most for the people you share your world with.nnKeep an eye out for tour dates on Monday!nnLYRICSnI've locked myself in a hotel roomnThen waited all night for the walls to movenI've loved some girls that I barely knewnI've made some friends, and I've lost some toonnCrashed my car, I was seventeennMy mother in the seat riding next to menThe things I've learned from a broken mirrornHow a face can change when a heart knows fearnnFor all the things my eyes have seen, the best by far is younnIf I could fly, then I would knownWhat life looks like from up above and down belownI'd keep you safe, I'd keep you drynDon't be afraid, Cecilia, I'm the satellitenAnd you're the skynnOh, OhnnI've café crawled through AmsterdamnBeen around the world with a punk rock bandnAnd I've seen London, and I've played JapannI've been knocked down, I got up againnnFor all the places I have been, I'm no place without younnIf I could fly, then I would knownWhat life looks like from up above and down belownI'd keep you safe, I'd keep you drynDon't be afraid, Cecilia, I'm the satellitenAnd you're the skynnOh, OhnI'm the satellitenAnd you're the skynnFor all the things my hands have held, the best by far is younnIf I could fly, then I would knownWhat life looks like from up above and down belownI'd keep you safe, I'd keep you drynDon't be afraid, Cecilia, I'm the satellitenAnd you're the skynAnd you're the skynI'm the satellitenAnd you're the skynAnd you're the skynnhttp://andrewmcmahon.comnhttps://www.facebook.com/andrewmcmahonmusicnhttp://twitter.com/andrewmcmahonnhttp://instagram.com/amnthewildernessnhttp://soundcloud.com/andrewmcmahonnnFALL HEADLINE TOURn10/14 - San Diego, CA @ House of Bluesn10/15 - Los Angeles, CA @ The Fonda Theatren10/17 - San Francisco, CA @ Slim'sn10/18 - San Francisco, CA @ The Independentn10/20 - Vancouver, BC @ Rio Theatren10/21 - Portland, OR @ Hawthorne Theatren10/22 - Seattle, WA @ The Neptunen10/23 - Boise, ID @ Knitting Factoryn10/25 - Denver, CO @ The Summit Music Halln10/26 - Kansas City, MO @ Uptown Theatern10/28 - St. Louis, MO @ The Ready Roomn10/29 - Minneapolis, MN @ First Avenuen10/31 - Chicago, IL @ Vic Theatren11/5 - Toronto, ON @ Opera Housen11/22 - Nashville, TN @ 3rd & Lidsleyn11/24 - Austin, TX @ Emo'sn11/25 - Houston, TX @ Fitzgerald's - Upstairsn11/26 - Dallas, TX @ Granada Theatern11/28 - Las Vegas, NV @ Hard Rock Liven11/29 - Santa Ana, CA @ The Observatory Less
