REASON is a short movie inspired by Philosophical Investigations (1953), Ludwig Wittgenstein’s posthumous work, considered by many to be the most important book in 20th century philosophy. Philosophical Investigations describes his post-modern theories about how language would be responsible for creating our feelings and our world and how reality is never a finished concept, but something that is actually in constant mutation. nnGemma is a model and socialite living in New York City. Confused and unsatisfied with her life, she starts visiting therapist Clement Belrose, who will introduce her to the ideas of the Austrian-Britain philosopher. The short captures a year in Gemma’s life and dialog with Dr. Clement. Reason, language and meaning are some of the concepts that will be discussed through the story, which delivers an optimistic message on life and our journey on the pursuit of happiness. Ancient myths and absolute truths of the so called common sense are taken down, as a much more liberal dynamic way of thinking about our world, everyday life and especially ourselves is expressed. Gemma sees her career as something superficial and also feels guilty for not being content with her enviable lifestyle of luxuries and financial success.
