The founders at Boosted Boards wanted a more engaging video to launch their Kickstarter campaign. After meeting with them we quickly fell in love with their product. Our aim was to simply go beyond what others had done on Kickstarter in terms of storytelling. After a two-day shoot we went into post, added a few pickups and delivered what you see here. I made this board 10 years ago, and it`s been a long time since she tasted the sea ! nnThe other day I found her in the back of my shack, and I desided to take her for a ride. And what a ride she is !! She`s fast, turns on a dime, and sprays like nothing else. It even do mobes !! I had an insane fun session with it, totaly stoked to re-discover this amazing board! Hell, I will bring her with on my next session too !nnHmmm....I wonder who inspired me to make this board 10 years ago......Lou....nnI have made a little vid from the session, and some pics. This is a short documentary I directed as a supplement to the book and DVD for 'Celestial Navigations: The Short Films of Al Jarnow' produced for The Numero Group.nnTens of millions of people have seen these short films, but very few know the name of their creator. Still, via reruns and nostalgia-based YouTube forwards, filmmaker Al Jarnow has touched uncounted lives, shifting our perceptions of the world and movement without us ever knowing. nnBeginning with his work for Sesame Street, Al Jarnow boiled reality's minutia down for easy consumption between cookie-eating monsters and counting vampires. Coupling time-lapse, stop motion, and cel animation with simple, everyday objects, Jarnow deconstructed the world for an entire generation. nnDelving into New York's avant-garde film scene alongside Harry Smith, Jonas Mekas and Stan Brakhage, Jarnow created a body of awe-inspiring films that remain in the collections of MOMA and Pompideau Center.   Less

This is actress Soheir al Morshedi dancing in a scene from the 1969 Egyptian film ‘Al Harami’ (The Thief الحرامي). Soheir al Morshedi only danced when and if the part she was playing required it. In this film she plays a girl who’s engaged to be married but just before the wedding day her father receives an offer for her hand from another man which the father accepts. The intending son-in-law turns out to be a criminal. nThe film starred Farid Shawki, Mohamed Youssef, Mohamed Reda and the members of The Three Stage Light band (“Tholaathi Adwaa al Masrah” فرقة ثلاثي أضواء المسرح التي) who are the photographers in this scene. They were individually listed; Samir Ghanem, George Sedhom and El Deif Ahmad. nTrivia: What does the trio's name mean? You might remember them from their appearances in other Egyptian movies. ‘Tholaathi’ means three or a trio. 'Al Adwaa’ in this case means a light (like a spotlight or a stage light). ‘Al Masrah' means the theatre or sometimes its used to mean only the stage, sorry its a really hard name to translate, but ‘Three Stage Lights’ or ‘Three Theatre Lights’ might be the closest.   Less
