Lite Feet was a style that was created by kids that experimented with dance moves like "The Harlem Shake", "Chicken Noodle Soup", "Aunt Jacky", etc. Kids started copy and pasting hip hop tracks into very hype rich, dance friendly tracks. No rap or vocal structure like verse and chorus. Just a lot of chopped up vocal and samples that bring the energy of Lite Feet music.nnThe short film "Lite Feet" follows one young dancer, Andrew Sanders that is called Drew by his friends. Like many other Lite Feet dancers, they earn extra money from dancing on the trains. Dance events is also a big part of the movement. We took about half an hour for the whole thing which has been edited down a lot.nShot this using a 7 inch monitor on top of the camera to aid focus. Because the resolution on the monitor is a lot less than the camera they kind of cancel each other out. Works well on close ups though...nStrong backlight hindered the cameras exposure quite a bit so a lot of compensation was used in Premier Pro. See more architecture and design movies at http://www.dezeen.com/moviesnnMovie: Indian architect Sandeep Khosla explains the importance of outdoor learning at DPS Kindergarten School in Bangalore, India, which won the education category at last month's Inside Festival in Singapore. nnDPS Kindergarten School by Khosla Associates is a prototype for a series of school buildings to be rolled out across southern India.nn"The brief was to really create a typology that could be repeated and adapted to further schools in the region," says Khosla. "We used exposed concrete as the starting point and we created a very modular system that can be expanded vertically as well as horizontally. So the inside of the classrooms are basically the stripped-down materials of the architecture."nnThe 25 classrooms feature brightly-coloured walls made of corrugated metal sheets and perforated terracotta screens for ventilation.nn"Colour is very much a part of the Indian consciousness," Khosla explains. "We've used three colours, which wrap around these corrugated sheets that we used."nnHe adds: "Corrugated sheets are easy to construct with and they reduce time in the construction."nnThe perforated screens, called jali, keep the classrooms cool in the absence of any air-conditioning.nn"We decided to do a climate-sensitive, sustainable school," Khosla explains. "The breezes from south-west to north-east flow right through the classrooms and the hot air rises in the courtyard. So it's a natural ventilation stack effect that we've created."nnThe jali screens also have a decorative purpose, Khosla says.nn"We used two modules of different patterns and we've created very nice floral patterns by combining them," he says. "The light creates lovely patterns on the floor at different times of the day."nnAs well as helping to keep the building cool, Kohsla says the central courtyard is also an important space for learning at the school.nn"The courtyard is the soul of the school," he explains. "In the gurukal system of education in ancient India the disciples would sit at the feet of their guru under the shade of the largest tree in the village."nn"In this school too you have a lot of outdoor learning happening in the courtyard, either on the steps of the corridors or around the frangipane trees. It's all integrated into this central courtyard."nnInside Festival 2013 took place at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from 2 to 4 October. I think most fly fishers would agree the places and the journey are often just as, if not more rewarding than landing big fish. A recent weekend at favorite trout stream in the shadow of Mt. Ranier and Mt. Adams was a reminder of that. This stream draws me back every year. Partly because the indigenous nature of the trout and also because there is an almost palpable energy there that always create a unique experience. We slept on top of a high mountain and were privy to some spectacular sunrises, sunsets and an array of other views that warranted their own segment.
