Static ball mastery drills like these are very important for the development of ball coordination and soccer skills.nMany ball control exercises are the basis for more complex soccer moves and techniques.nMaster these and you will master the ball. When you master the ball, you master the game.nnAll you need for this soccer practice is a square meter on the lawn. You can train them even on the carpet in the living room.nnSoccer coaches should incorporate these drills in their soccer training or warm-up time before a soccer game.nnTutorial:nHold both feet together and place the ball just in front of the foot that will roll the ball.nThis is the ideal position to start so that the leg can move naturally and without overreaching while rolling the ball.nNow put the toe/ball of the foot on the ball and roll forward till the heel is just over the middle of the ball.nThen pull the ball backwards to the start position.nKeep the foot and leg straight on an imaginary line while rolling the ball back and forth on the same imaginary line.nThis is harder than it looks at the beginning.nnPractise with both feet! Your weak foot will catch up very quickly.nnAbout:nLars Schelfhout is born in February 2006 and lives in Belgium.nHe started his football career rather late as a U9.nnOur videos are tagged with an easy colour code scheme representing the skill level and/or suitable age group.n- Blue: Novice (U6-U7)n- Green: Easy (U8-U9)n- Yellow: Intermediate (U10-U11)n- Orange: Challenging (U12-U13)n- Red: Mastering (U14+)nnNew videos of 1v1 moves, dribbling drills, ball mastery exercises, ... are released every week. Stand behind the ball with the ball before the right foot.n 2. Step on the ball with the right foot.n 3. Pull the ball backwards while keeping contact with the ball until the ball touches the laces.n 4. Roll the ball back up until the sole is on the top of the ball again.n 5. Repeat continuously from step 2-4.nnThings to watch out for:nn a. Keep your foot pointing forward.n b. Don't wobble your feet horizontally, but try to keep the tip of the foot pointing straight ahead.n c. Try to keep the leg which performs the roll in the same vertical line during the entire drill.n d. The foot shouldn't come from the ball at all times.n e. The knee of the support leg may be bent in the same rhythm of the rolls. This is a nice bridge to the same exercise (Roll Toe for U8-U9) where the player jumps on the support foot.nnPractise with both feet!
