With their first show in that line-up they won the band competition Gooise Goden in a sold out venue.Early 2011 Purest of Pain got selected for the regional band competition Clash of the Titans. About sixty bands were selected to participate in this non-metal competition. Purest of Pain finished on the second place and won a support show with the Brazillian band Torture Squad. They also won Gooise Goden for a second time in a row and got asked to replace a band on the Hell On Earth Tour, which also included Unearth and Evergreen Terrace. Around the same time Purest of Pain entered the studio for the recordings of their debut EP 'Revelations in Obscurity'. That summer the band played on the open air festival Occultfest with the English band Onslaught. For a short period in the early to mid 1990's, a collective of Swedish musicians decided to relive the past and create improvisational psychedelic rock music similar to the early 70's masters such as International Harvester and Algarnas Tradgard. Acts such as S.T. Mikael, Adam, Stefan and the Entheogens all recorded for the low budget label Xotic Mind. The primary difference between the modern day copiers and the 1970's masters is the one-dimensional nature of the recordings.This trait can be attributed to most of the albums being solo projects with only guest musicians.This trait can be attributed to most of the albums being solo projects with only guest musicians.Long burning jams such as "Space Fu?king" and "Can You Feel it - Flowing Free" are offset by calm flute and hand percussion ragas like "The Devil". Most of the jams meander on for too long and the inclusion of a couple of Earthy country-bumpkin vocal tracks with Louisiana-front-porch harmonica are in complete contrast to the hazy heady cosmic aspirations the album pretends to be.Still, the album works on many levels, most notably the trance-like jams, which can get quite intense. The guitar tone is super fuzz loud and the percussion is particularly active. Recommended for all Krautrock, space rock and early Swedish pioneer groups. The original LP contained a paste-on cover and is now quite rare. Better to find the CD on Satori.The sophomore effort, Dust, is quite a bit different from the predecessor. More variety and less jam oriented, this album tries to please on a number of fronts. "When I Was in Space" opens promisingly enough with oscillator-emulated synth runs and heavy percussion. Delayed by a week apparently over differences on inclusion of Hindutva issues, the manifesto was released on the opening day of 9-phased Lok Sabha elections. The function at the party headquarters was attended by a galaxy of leaders including L K Advani, Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Murli Manohar Joshi, who chaired the committee that prepared the document. Modi did not take any questions at the function. He was specifically asked for his comments about his close confidante Amit Shah's controversial "revenge" remark but he just parried. Joshi intervened to say that this question did not pertain to the manifesto. The manifesto said the country has suffered a "decade of maladministration and scams" besides "decision and policy paralysis" under UPA and this situation will be changed and the engine of government will be ignited again with strong will power and commitment to public interest. Under the chapter "Reform the System", it promised Good Governance, which will be transparent, effective, involving and encouraging and include reforms of administration, judiciary, police and election. CRSS FATA-FCR-focused shows go on air on Friday A series of ten landmark TV shows “Hum Bhi Pakistan” on the status of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) - Past, Present, and Future - produced by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) goes on air from Friday. The national EXPRESS TV will air the shows every Friday and Saturday at 7.p.m every week. These shows mark a big step forward in the Center’s drive for inclusive democracy and fundamental rights as enshrined in the federal Constitution. As many as 40 parliamentarians, rights’ activists, analysts and academia participated in the shows with some 60 male and female students from different regions in the audience. They had specially traveled to Islamabad for participating in the shows and each of them had a chance to put at least one question to the panelists. Never before did FATA come under such focused and s structured debate involving leading stakeholders from within FATA as well as those representing Pakistan’s mainstream political parties – a first in FATA’s political rights’ advocacy in history to debate FATA problems, concerns and future prospects. The TV shows supplement CRSS’s radio advocacy for FATA which has been airing from Peshawar and several other stations in a syndicated show that reaches all nook and corners of KP province and FATA. The TV shows gave an opportunity to the people from FATA to share their problems and seek solutions that can best help mainstream FATA with Pakistan. At the same time it provided the panelists a chance to speak in a focused way on the way the draconian Frontier Crimes Regulations –FCR-impacts their lives.
