New footage has recently been discovered which appears to show unidentified American soldiers watching as Afghans — likely a mix of Afghan National Army personnel and interpreters — torture and interrogate a prisoner. The video was discovered on Afghan social media pages. The US soldiers are visible around the one-minute mark. Based on their facial hair and appearance, some believe they are probably from a U.S. Army Special Forces team. Moreover, the uniform patern that they seem to be wearing did not see general use in Afghanistan until 2010. In the video, the Afghans discuss how to hold down the prisoner in Pashto-accented Dari; the man screams, in Kandahari-accented Pashto, "oh my father" as he is whipped, and pleads with his captors that he will tell them whatever they want to know. Afterward, the uniformed Afghan leans over and asks him if he has any weapons, which the prisoner denies. No statement has been made by Government in response to the video. #financial_support_div{ display:none; position: absolute; width:300px; height:140px; margin-left: -150px; margin-top: -70px; /*- half of width and height */ top:50%; left:50%; padding: 5px; opacity:0.9; filter:alpha(opacity=90); z-index:1000; background-color:#000; color: white; } .close_box{ background: gray; color:#fff; padding:1px 3px; display:inline; position:absolute; right:1px; margin-right: -13px; margin-top: -13px; border-radius:3px; cursor:pointer; border: 1px #000 solid; } $(document).on("click",".close_box",function(){ $(this).parent().fadeTo(300,0,function(){ $(this).remove(); }); }); Loading the player ... At least four people have been killed in two separate US-led airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan. The overnight air raids took place in Wardak province. Local officials say the victims are all Taliban militants with two commanders among them. Such airstrikes are mostly carried out by the US military in Afghanistan with pilotless planes involved. The US says it targets militants in drone attacks but figures on the ground show many civilians have lost their lives in the process. Less

The Taliban took responsibility for an attack on the ISAF US military base in the eastern province of Nangarhar, near Torkham, Thursday. According to local media, the Taliban were reportedly targeting the base with suicide bombers, RPG and machine gun fire. After the attack the ISAF tweeted that there were no causalities on their side, however three from the Taliban were killed. One Afghani policeman was also reportedly killed in the attack. Spokesman for the Taliban, Zabiullah Mujahid, said that the base was heavily damaged with several NATO trucks on fire, in what is the second attack by the Taliban on the ISAF camp in the last two months. The camp was set up a few minutes from the Torkham checkpoint, which is one of the busiest border gates in Afghanistan that connects the country with Pakistan.
