The ultimate travel experience, a week on the legendary Trans-Siberian. Watch this video to get a feeling of whats riding this beast to the east ;) This video covers a few moments of an amazing week on board this train. JFYO (im not even gonna wiki this s****, its coming from me so might be slightly wrong. DYO googling if you want, I alrdy made the trip ;) the Trans-Siberian (TS) rail-road was built @ the beginning of the 20th century. The motivation behind all this was the lack of communication between east and west Russia. The original line covers from Moscow to Vladivostok, some long 9000km crossing 7 time zones! With time, new branches were added, linking also Moscow with ; <span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi">Pyongyang, Ulaan-Baatar, Beijing both via Manchuria and Mongolia, a circumvalation to Lake-Baikal and so on... Therefor today there are several choices, but I think its fair to say the original TS line went Moscow-Vladi Actually I went all the way from Krakow-Kiyv-Moscow-UlaanBaatar-Beijin-Shanghai and finally to almost vietnam by train,, so just take a few maps and make your route !! :D You can get to ticket online, like I did. I payed around 500€ for a second class cabin (2 bunks : 4 guys ),, theres also 1st class ( 2 beds + toilette ) fuckling expensive though... Later I learned that its actually much cheaper if you just crash Yaroslavskiy Railway Station (the departure of all the TSs from moscow) and buy it right there. Then you pay around 300€ WARNING theres only a few "non-scales" TSs a week, at least the one from Moscow to Beijing only runs on Tuesdays. And russians are notorious for extending short visas, so you dont wanna run into a passport problem cause they day you try to buy your ticket there are no trains,, or no beds... Pack all the food you are gonna need, the restauant-car food isnt that good and aint cheap. There are no showers. Only small sinks, wich you share with the rest of the wagon. Mine was almost empty and the condition of them was not that good. So in a full TSs on summer,, ohh that could be funny : Expect to be a lil bit dirty by the end of it, also covered by a fine coat of coal-dust.. not even kidding. I did this on winter, fucking nuts. You can barely exit the train @ some stations (train is gonna stop everyday a few times on the major cities) cause temps are below -20-30ºC most of the time If you like hardcore go for it,,landscapes are just amazing. I choose those dates for convinience, but in my mind I always pictured Siberia snowed,, so... ;) Maybe on spring, using the same line but on local trains, stopping in every major city a few days.. to get the feeling. I rushed thru Russia and Mongolia without seeing much... Also on local trains, there is the possibility of 3rd class, sharing open bunks in a wagon hahaha PLS SEND VIDEO AFTER Thats up to you, once again im only pointing facts I would rather see this one getting featured than my last one,, wich was only for the lols...
