After doubling in value due to the popularity of Pokemon GO, Nintendo’s shares have tumbled after the company pointed out the smash-hit game would have only “limited” benefit for its earnings. It neither makes, nor owns, Pokémon Go though it does have a stake in Niantic, the firm that developed and distributes the augmented reality game. The shares fell 17.7 percent on Monday after the Kyoto-based gaming company said it did not plan to revise its earnings outlook for now. They would probably have fallen more but hit the daily trading limit. Nintendo is due to report its quarterly results on Wednesday. This is a trip I took recently from the ferry to my house. I live in an ordinary Chinese city, and I thought people might like to see what it's like to live here. I use an electric scooter, it's great. You get to travel in the separate bike lane and they're faster and more convenient than bicycles. You can drive a car if you want, but traffic and especially parking are problems. A lot of people love to say "they don't know how to drive!" or "they're crazy". It's not that, it's just that the rules of the road are different. In fact, after learning them, I find I actually prefer them to back home. They're more streamlined and smart drivers can take advantage. Back home is like playing Super Smash Bros. in super-safe boring mode. But rule number 1 in China, and the one that inevitably pisses off Westerners used to super-safe mode, is that you're responsible for your own safety, all the time. They are locked into one idea that everything should be exactly like it is in America or Europe, and this is the only way that things should ever be. If you don't like it get the hell out of China, says I. The trip is about 15 minutes and I hope you can relax and enjoy the sights and sounds. If it's a bit bouncy...sorry. The roads are just bumpy.
