BRAVURA, a novel by Lisa Kirazian, is about a luminous violinist, Kate Driscoll, and her brother, temperamental pianist Neil Driscoll, who get accepted to the Royal School of Music in 1960's London to escape a troubled family past and make their mark on the world stage, just on the verge of the British Rock Explosion, Vietnam, and other world-shaking events. They form the core of a group of classical musician friends whom we follow from 1960's London to the 1990's, across Europe and the U.S., onstage and off. Though fiction, the book features several true to life historical figures as supporting characters -- great figures of the classical music world, opera stars and conductors. Currently being adapted as a series for television.nnMusic credit: Anne-Sophie Mutter with Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic -- Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, 3rd Movement. Less
