Public art commission for 350 Mission Building in City of San Francisco, California.nn‘Virtual Depictions:San Francisco’ is a public art project by media artist Refik Anadol consist of series of parametric data sculptures that tell the story of the city and people around us within a unique artistic approach for 350 Mission’s media wall in collaboration with Kilroy Realty Corporation / John Kilroy and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP Architects.nnThe main idea of ‘Virtual Depictions:San Francisco’ is to bring 21st century approach to public art to define new poetics of space through media arts and architecture and to create a unique parametric data sculptures that has an intelligence, memory and culture. Through architectural transformations of media wall located in 350 Mission’ lobby, home of Salesforce, main motivation with this seminal media architecture approach is to frame this experience with a meticulously abstract and cinematic site-specific data-driven narration. As a result, this media wall turns into a spectacular public event making direct and phantasmagorical connections to its surroundings through simultaneous juxtapositions. The project also intends to contribute to contemporary discourse of public art by proposing a hybrid blend of media arts and architecture in 21st century.nnWhen creating this public artwork my goal was to make the invisible visible by embedding media arts into architecture to create a new way to experience a living urban space.n_nMedium: 6mm LED Media WallnDimensions: 20' x 40'nCustom Software (VVVV), 90 minutes long dynamic visual experience in 12 chapters.n8 Channel sound.n_nShot ,edit and color-correction: Refik AnadolnMusic: Goldmund - Threnody (Unseen-Music)nSound Design: Kerim Karaoglun_nhttp://www.refikanadol.com/works/virtual-depictions-san-francisco/nn_nCREDITSnVirtual Depictions: San Francisco By Refik Anadoln_nCommissioned by: Kilroy Realty CorporationnJohn B. A Typical San Francisco Morning, is a short aerial project shot by Toby Harriman during two morning flights during the beginning months of October. Everything was shot hand held out of Robinson R22 Helicopter on a Canon 6D with a Kenyon KS-4x4 Gyro. By a stroke of dumb luck my friend Abe and myself were on slacker hill shooting timelapse photography of the Golden Gate Bridge. You can see the missile enter the frame from the upper right hand corner. We noticed the object immediately and I stopped my timelapse to record some video. What a crazy evening!nnOfficial Statement:n“Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flight at sea from USS Kentucky, an Ohio Class SSBN, in the Pacific Test Range off the coast of Southern California. The tests were part of a scheduled, ongoing system evaluation test. Launches are conducted on a frequent, recurring basis to ensure the continued reliability of the system. Each test activity provides valuable information about our systems, thus contributing to assurance in our capabilities.nnThe missile was not armed. Strategic Systems Programs does not routinely announce missile testing. Information regarding the test launch of Trident II (D5) missiles is classified before the launch.”nnnn© Varient3 Productionsnwww.varient3.comnFor licensing information contact justinmajeczky@varient3.com Less

View photos and full project at http://GothamCitySF.comnnThis idea came from the aether; it emerged over time. Several years ago (2012) while exploring my passion for black and white photography I found myself wandering into a look I call ‘Gotham’. nnnI have a passion for timelapse as well, so it wasn’t long before the two processes started to merge in my mind, and the concept for Gotham City SF was born! Over the intervening years I have collected and edited this footage while juggling my freelance career and time working at Lytro (a new camera technology).nnThis film means a lot to me. It is one of the biggest personal projects I’ve ever worked on.nnI searched for music for months. Finally deciding to work with James Everingham: a talented 14 year old from the UK. (Now 16) He ended up composing a full custom composition and it came out perfect!nnI also want to thank my friend and college David Hultin, for designing the incredible Gotham SF logo for this film. He is another very talented artist that joins me in my business venture: Planet Unicorn.nnThis is my vision come to life after hours of setting up, shooting, and editing. It is my art and my love for San Francisco, photography, and timelapse.nnEnjoynEverything was shot on a Canon 6D and 5DMK III with a variety of Canon L series lenses.
