Jornal A Nova Democracia — Durante a tarde e a noite do dia 7 de janeiro, moradores da favela Metrô-Mangueira, na zona norte do Rio, protestaram contra o despejo de cerca de 40 famílias que vivem no local. A prefeitura teria chegado à favela às 7h da manhã agredindo e expulsando moradores de suas casas. A Favela do Metrô fica a menos de 500 metros do palco da final da Copa de 2014, o Maracanã. Desde 2010, moradores sofrem com as investidas do Estado reacionário, empenhado em varrer qualquer sinal de pobreza dos locais onde acontecerão os jogos da Copa. nnRevoltadas, cerca de 100 pessoas interditaram a Avenida Radial Oeste e enfrentaram a PM e a tropa de choque.
