This year at PSFK 2015 we saw the return of Jamin Warren, founder of videogame arts and culture company - Kill Screen. It is not easy to examine the cultural aspects of gaming, and with over one billion people worldwide playing games nowadays, it’s impossible to do so for the aggregate. In his talk, Jamin explores how he interprets videogame culture within the context of the #GamerGate debacle. Less

Since Uganda's anti-gay law passed recently, it's been amusing (and maddening) to watch various religious right characters scurry for cover. When nobody was watching, the holier-than-thou set have been visiting Uganda preaching their extreme anti-gay views. Now that people are appalled at Uganda's life-in-prison-for-homosexuals law, the "evangelical" right-wing preachers are laying low or rewriting history. (You can read more on my website.) Less

Rosie Ming is a young Canadian poet who is invited to a poetry festival in Shiraz, Iran, where she is unexpectedly confronted with all these different truths about the father who she thought abandoned her as a young child. Remember a couple years ago, when Obama said we’d shape up his drone program and achieve “near certainty” that civilians wouldn’t be killed and signature strikes would basically end? Turns out that’s not quite true. There were some pretty huge asterisks that were attached to his proclamation. You can read more at http://www.MarkFiore.com. Less

Hanna Tuulikki’s Air falbh leis na h-eòin is a body of work exploring the mimesis of birds in Gaelic song. In 2014 it becomes a sited performance and installation, made for the Isle of Canna, as part of Culture 2014. It is created by an inter-disciplinary team of visual artists, musicians, textile artists, dancers, writers, sound recordists, ornithologists, conservationists and anthropologists.nnHanna’s vocal composition, Guth an Eòin | Voice of the Bird sits at the heart of the project. It’s written for a female vocal ensemble, reinterpreting archive, fragmenting and re-weaving extracts of Gaelic songs into an extended soundscape growing out of and responding to landscape. It explores the delicate nature of island-life, the co-existence of history and innovation, the relationships between bird, man and land. Less
