Luhansk has been under a siege by Ukrainian forces for the past 19 days. Water and power supplies have been cut off, and communication lines don’t work there. Fighters brandishing Hezbollah arm patches aided the Syrian army in capturing the southern Damascus suburb of Hejeira on Wednesday which had been held by the opposition militants, including the Al Nusra front, for over a year. In addition to aid from the Lebanese Shia political group Hezbollah, Iraqi fighters took part in seizing the suburb. The operation is part of a longer military operation launched from Sayyidah Zaynab mosque in the suburbs more than three months ago. News agency Sana reports there is still resistance from militants in the outskirts of Hejeira.
