SOTT 'Earth Changes' video summary of extreme weather events, environmental indicators of 'planetary upheaval' (seismic, volcanic, etc), and Near-Earth Object activity in October 2015.nnHurricanes bringing record flooding and 'rivers of ice' to the Middle East... is it possible that Mother Nature is reflecting back to humanity the socio-political chaos in the region - and, indeed, globally?nnIn October 2015, deluges caused fatal flash-flooding along the French Riviera, Turkey's Black Sea coast, Greece's islands, southern Italy, and elsewhere in the Mediterranean as 'medi-canes' pummeled the region. 'Medi-cane' is, of course, a newly created term to describe this new weather pattern. Climate shift has also spread to the Middle East, where raging storms have brought weeks of unprecedented flash-flooding all the way from Egypt to Iran. Intense hailstorms last month turned the Arabian desert into rivers of ice, while Cyclone Chapala - the second strongest Arabian Sea cyclone behind only Cyclone Gonu in 2007 - became the first ever storm to make landfall in Yemen.nnStrong seismic activity last month included multiple volcanic eruptions in Mexico spewing ash thousands of feet into the air, a magnitude 5.9 earthquake in northern Argentina that damaged infrastructure, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake that killed 400 people in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and the worst ever landslide in Guatemala killed 350 people. Sinkholes swallowed a street in England and a car in Sicily, while the land opened up to form a new ravine in Wyoming. Many Chinese in the path of Typhoon Mujigae witnessed tornadoes for the first time as the powerful storm dropped multiple destructive tornadoes. Waterspouts came ashore in Florida, France, Italy, China, Tunisia, the Canary Islands, often preceding deluges that sent rivers of mud down streets and out to sea. nnTyphoon Koppu set a new rainfall record in the Philippines: a staggering 52 inches (1.32m) in 24 hours. In a matter of days, Los Angeles went from experiencing a record heatwave to devastating hailstorms and record rainfall; the resulting mudslides buried hundreds of vehicles on a busy highway. Category 5 Hurricane Patricia dumped 20 inches (0.5m) of rain in Mexico's southwest, turning streets into rivers. Patricia was - at one point, in terms of sustained wind speeds - the strongest storm ever recorded, globally, and was the strongest ever for the Western Hemisphere in terms of both wind speeds and barometric pressure.nnTexas went from experiencing record heat and wildfires earlier in the month to being flooded for the second time this year, with some rainfall records breaking those set in May. Hurricane Joaquin combined with another storm system to produce a "one-in-1,000-year" rainstorm that inundated parts of the US Eastern Seaboard. Hardest hit were the Carolinas, which saw floodwaters reach record levels. July 2015 saw record-breaking heatwaves in western US, western Europe, and eastern Asia. Record numbers of wildfires breaking out across northern Canada and western US have forced the evacuation of thousands and torching millions of acres. In a scene one might expect in a Hollywood disaster movie, one wildfire outside Los Angeles crossed a highway and torched dozens of vehicles. In-between raging wildfires and epic drought, western US states saw record-breaking rainfall, with the highest July rainfall ever in southern California... falling within minutes. nnFrom extreme heat to extreme cold, Australia is in the midst of its coldest and snowiest winter in decades. Most striking last month were sudden changes the world over, as local weather flipped from one extreme to another, often in a matter of hours. In the midst of record-breaking heat in Germany, for example, parts of the country were hit by tornadoes, flash-flooding and several inches of hail, while The Netherlands recorded its strongest ever July storm. Powerful typhoons battered Japan and China, dumping several FEET of rain and causing destructive landslides. Buildings were washed away by flash-flooding in northern Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, India, Colombia and Brazil, while an unusually heavy monsoon season brought Myanmar and Vietnam their worst flooding in decades. nnDestructive tornadoes in North America last month included one that was on the ground for nearly three hours, estimated to be the longest-duration tornado since 1925. Elsewhere, a powerful tornado left serious damage in a suburb of Venice, Italy. Whether they occur in the tropics, deserts, or high plains, and during 'winter' or 'summer', destructive hailstorms with ever-larger hailstones continue to defy normal patterns by occurring everywhere from southern Spain to the Philippines. St. Petersburg, Russia saw streets turn into icy rivers TWICE last month. The student film scene was getting ready to explode, and it knew it. nnThe details on when this documentary, The New Cinema, were made are a little vague. IMDb lists it as 1968, but it contains clips from Easy Rider, which was released in 1969. It's possible it had early access, especially given the inclusion of interviews with Peter Fonda; but regardless it did a remarkable job of getting on camera a wide number of the people who would help transform cinema over the course of the following decades including Dustin Hoffman, Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate and Andy Warhol and most interesting to us, Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas.nnThe film was directed by Gary Young, who is also credited as the Second Unit Director on 1:42.08. Information about Gary Young is scarce beyond what IMDb lists, which is scarce in itself. Given that he worked on 1:42.08, it's not unreasonable to think that he was perhaps in Lucas's class, but I've so far been unable to get a hold of a list of students from that class (beyond the famous ones). However, he was Assistant Cameraman on on Monte Hellman's Ride in the Whirlwind (1966), although that doesn't preclude him also attending USC. If anyone knows more, I'd love to know, as he seems to subsequently have mostly vanished from the film scene, holding only one other credit on IMDb.nnAlso remarkably, it was edited by Paul Golding (who posted it on YouTube), another classmate of Lucas's, who also worked with Lucas on several student films (including The Emperor) while they were both at USC.nnAccording to the description on YouTube it apparently never aired on TV, but certainly provides a fascinating look into the (slightly self-obsessed) young filmmakers of the late 60s, and along with Gene Youngblood's 1971 interview with George Lucas it provides a fantastic look into Lucas's early career and early determination to rebel against the prevailing forces of Hollywood.nnI believe part of this film was used in Peter Biskind's somewhat gossipy, but nevertheless must-see Easy Riders, Raging Bull (2003).nnSkip to about 10 minutes into the first part to get to the Coppola/Lucas bit. There's nothing normal about any of this. We've entered a new global climate. Forecasting models are largely redundant at this point. The costs from all this destruction pile up ever higher with each passing month. Until now, elites have either ignored the climate/planetary upheaval, or blamed ordinary people for causing one or another symptom, then carried on milking taxpayers and spreading wars.
