Legendary Puerto Rican salsa star Eddie Perez has died. Known as La Bala, the sax player was a founding member of El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. Perez was admitted to a hospital for a foot amputation and his daughter told the Associated Press that he died from a blood infection after the procedure. The bandâs Facebook page reported his death by posting, "to the people of Puerto Rico and the world of salsa, Eddie La Bala Perez Lopez moved on to a better life."
