One local said that he witnessed executions conducted by the Ukrainian Army and even tried to assist one of those who had been shot. It remains unclear just how many bodies are left to be found after the initial discovery of four missing women with their hands tied on Monday 22 September. Locals claim there could be dozens more mass graves in the area. An investigation into the incident and the process of identifying the victims is ongoing, with one man aged 21 already having been formally identified by his mother. At least one body had been decapitated, further complicating the identification process. Human Rights activists from Europe have reportedly arrived at the scene while the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic forces accuse the Ukrainian military of crimes against humanity. Seventy children were in the school as it was hit along with 28 teachers, most were evacuated. A biology teacher and parent are believed to be among the dead. The shell exploded five metres from the school on Yasnopolyanskaya street. A local Berkut unit commander, Victor Halyava, told reporters that the school was hit as children were lining up in the playground. The damage from the shelling led the glass from the buildings to shatter. Out of the 150 schools in the Donetsk region, 146 were opened on Wednesday as students returned to school. The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned the attack, labelling it a cynical and blatant breach of international law. Ukrainian authorities have yet to issue a statement. C/U School sign exterior of building W/S Vehicles parked outside school W/S School 57, Donetsk SCRIPT A shell that reportedly came from Ukrainian held territory hit school number 57 in the Kievsky region of Donetsk Wednesday, killing at least 10 people. Seventy children were in the school as it was hit along with 28 teachers, most were evacuated. A biology teacher and parent are believed to be among the dead. The shell exploded five metres from the school on Yasnopolyanskaya street. A local Berkut unit commander, Victor Halyava, told reporters that the school was hit as children were lining up in the playground. The damage from the shelling led the glass from the buildings to shatter. Out of the 150 schools in the Donetsk region, 146 were opened on Wednesday as students returned to school. The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned the attack, labelling it a cynical and blatant breach of international law. Ukrainian authorities have yet to issue a statement.
