3DPRK is a collaborative photographic portraiture project between Slovenian photographer Matjaž Tančič and Beijing-based North Korean art specialists Koryo Studio. Showing at Pékin Fine Arts (Hong Kong) Nov 19th 2016 - Jan 27th 2017.nn3DPRK: PHOTOGRAPHING NORTH KOREA is a never-before-seen examination of the process behind such cultural engagement projects between international artists and local North Koreans. The small team of five (photographer, producer, two North Korean guides, one driver) photographed soldiers at the tense Demilitarised Zone at the North-South Korean border, and visited the schools, hospitals and newly completed leisure facilities considered the pride of the reclusive state, with producer Vicky Mohieddeen filming the process every step of the way.nnThe resulting series of portraits is the first time that local people from across the country have been photographed using a 3D stereoscopic technique. This landmark collection shows not only the relatively oft-photographed citizens of Pyongyang – North Korea’s showcase capital – but also those toiling in the fields of the co-operative farms, those living in Hamhung (North Korea’s second largest city) and those working in factories and steelworks across the country.nnAs with all portraits, these photographs depict living human beings, upon whose gaze you may project what you will. Each protagonist agreed to be photographed and was well aware that their image would be exhibited to a wider world. Perhaps it is the individual that shines out from these photographs; each portrait has its own distinct personality, ranging from disdain to pride.nnIt is the uniqueness and beauty of the 3D technique used for each photograph that ultimately highlights the individual nature of the people posing for each shot, and the various layers that make up the surreal theatrical set that is the DPRK today.nnPékin Fine Arts (Hong Kong) are showing the works from November 19th to January 7th, 2017. nContact the gallery on: Tel: (852) 2177 6190 Less

In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the technique I came up with to recreate the nice, clean undulating bands in these spots:nnRocknRoller Studios for The Sound of Deep House 2: https://vimeo.com/96691722nWeAreSeventeen spot for Betfair: https://vimeo.com/95958264nnI'll start off by showing you my thought process and my first two failed attempts and see how I finally came to discover how to recreate this look. Cinema 4D has an amazing amount of useful tools and I had to think outside of the box (or cube) to figure this one out! The technique I demonstrate can be applied to many styles of mograph and hopefully helps you think out of the box next time you become stuck trying to figure out a technique!nnWatch full tutorial here:nhttp://eyedesyn.com/2014/06/19/create-a-wavy-band-surface-in-cinema-4d/nnWatch the preview here:nhttps://vimeo.com/98663877nnFollow me on Twitter: www.twitter.com/eyedesynnCheck out my other tutorials at www.eyedesyn.comnSign up for the Eyedesyn Newsletter here: bit.ly/1e22BRG Less

I rarely explain the concepts behind the things I create but I feel like I must do that here. nnA Thousand Smiles was shot over 7 days in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand. I was originally going to take stills but I didn't think that was good enough anymore and I wanted to personally push myself in style coming off my last project, For the Birds (https://vimeo.com/180493771). nnThe whole thing derived from two ideas: expand on traditional street photography (my first love) and distill verite filmmaking down to its essentials. What came to be is an observational documentary one specific scenes in Thai life.nnCAMERA: Canon 7D Mark IInLENSES: 24-105 Canon LnSOUND: Rode Videomic Pro, Zoom H1nEDIT: Cut in Final Cut Pro X 10.3, colored and graded in DaVinci Resolve Lite.nTRANSLATED BY: Aris Suchinroj, A Sutipatanasomboon, Atidthan S.nSPECIAL THANKS: Youmi Hong, Adam Hagopian-Zirkel Less

Please help us make the series a reality now:nhttps://tackk.com/AlethrionnnThe Tales of Alethrion proloque "The First Hero" is about Alethrion, whom the land is named after, and a lovely backpacker girl called Amerath. They are the original creators of the map which we see later in The Reward, carried by Vito and Wilhelm. It is the first tale that takes place long before many of the other episodes in the series which we hope to get funded through Kickstarter. n nMathias Winum and Johan Pedersen are our awesome musicians (Bards) for The Reward: Tales of Alethrion! It wants to keep the industry moving forward, and work with talented and good people inside and outside of Denmark. For now it focuses on the series "Tales of Alethrion", based on the universe of the short film The Reward. Less
