Set to the track 'You and Whose Army?' n nI've worked on personal/concept album artwork inspired by the band before. I returned to the subject but to explore possibilities with motion. Dark and brooding, I loved crafting my own take on a classic. They defy convention and prove brilliant inspiration for my more experimental pieces. It's powerful music, I wanted my work to match the tone. Amnesiac's existing cover art is a weeping minotaur from greek mythology, it triggered idea's for a few of the scenes. It's a set of experiments, it began life as a music video and grew into what now is essentially a show reel for my darker work.nnProbably my my most ambitious solo work to date. Done in spare time I covered all aspects of this project and 'donned many hats'. I wanted to produce an animation in it's entirety. Take a trip with this time-lapse production into the city and see the sights and sounds that create this magnificent destination. nnFor us, this time-lapse production was produced using more than 50,000 still frames, shot over the course of 6 months traveling back and forth from Washington DC to New York City. Our main goal was to capture the central part of the city in both visuals and audio. The sound effects used in this production were taken from the various locations we shot and were added in to give you the feeling of actually being there. nnThere were multiple times during this shoot that we were chased off, either by cops or the cold. The subway shots were particularly difficult to get, especially in the wake of the Boston bombings. It is the third track from their 1991 album Achtung Baby, and it was released as the record's third single in March 1992. During the album's recording sessions at Hansa Studios in Berlin, conflict arose between the band members over the direction of U2's sound and the quality of their material. Tensions almost prompted the band to break up until they achieved a breakthrough by improvising "One"; the song was written after the band members found inspiration from a chord progression that guitarist The Edge composed. The lyrics, written by lead singer Bono, were informed by the band members' fractured relationships and the German reunification. Although the lyrics ostensibly describe "disunity", they have been interpreted in other ways.nThe group filmed a third video in an attempt to appeal to a broader audience. It was directed by Rattle and Hum director Phil Joanou and was primarily filmed in early March 1992 at Nell's, a Manhattan nightclub. The video depicts Bono sitting at a table smoking a cheroot and drinking beer, interspersed with footage of the band performing in concert. While Bono was filmed, the rest of the band, along with models and transvestites, attended a party in the basement, awaiting their turns to be filmed. However, they were never called to the set and by 3 a.m., they realized that the video was to focus on Bono.n"One" was released as the album's third single in March 1992 as an AIDS benefit single, with all of the band's royalties being donated to AIDS research. The cover of the single release is a photograph by David Wojnarowicz. The photograph depicts buffaloes falling off a cliff after being chased by Native American hunters.
