Disney wins the box office. Again. Captain America: Civil War is now the fifth biggest domestic opening of all time, taking in 181.7 million dollars in its debut for an easy No 1 spot at the box office. At No 2, The Jungle Book, with $21.8 million dollars, down 47 percent since holding the No 1 spot the past three weekends in a row. At No 3, Mothers Day with $9 million. Rounding out the top five, The Huntsman: Winter’s War took in $3.5 million for the No 4 spot, and Keanu took in $3 million for the No 5 spot.n nHuge Jackman is ready to hang up the claws for good as the X-Men franchise continues barreling forward, but not before one last go-around as the character in Wolverine 3. Jackman spent plenty of time and care ensuring that this last Wolverine movie was up to standards, bringing helmer James Mangold back again to direct. Our own Steve Weintraub chatted with producer Simon Kinberg confirming that the project has begun filming while also confirming that the movie will in fact be rated R.nnAccording to Deadline, Warner Bros is making subtle additions to their Justice League braintrust adding Batman himself as an Executive Producer. Ben Affleck will work with director Zack Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio behind the scenes with special mention given by Deadline saying Affleck will specifically “support” Snyder during the production in order to make the film the best it can be. nnDuring a conversation with Deadline about this weekend’s domestic release of Captain America: Civil War, Kevin Feige spoke of Marvel Studios committing to a solo movie featuring Black Widow, AKA Natasha Romanoff. The character has appeared in half a dozen MCU titles by Scarlett Johanssen including Iron Man 2, The Avengers, The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron and now, Civil War. n nBUY OR SELLn nDuring an interview with Collider’s own Steven Weintraub for the upcoming Alice in Wonderland sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass, James Bobin confirmed he is set to direct MIB 23, the anticipated crossover film between 23 Jump Street and Men in Black announced back in March. Bobin says he is set to begin shooting later this year. Though he did not confirm a cast just yet, initial reports said that Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill will reprise their Jump Street roles with Men in Black getting a soft reboot.n nA legendary wise-guy reunion is finally moving closer to fruition with Deadline reporting that Martin Scorsese’s long-gestating The Irishman - which may bring together Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci - is coming together very quickly and could be made available to international buyers at the current Canne Film Festival. The Irishman is based on the Charles Brandt book I Heard You Paint Houses which is the deathbed story from mob hitman Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran about the disappearance and death of Jimmy Hoffa. n nSony Pictures has released the first trailer for director Ron Howard‘s Dan Brown adaptation Inferno.
