An online technology site has reported that a group known as the Syrian Electronic Army has hacked Microsoft’s twitter account. The attack reported by internet site Mashable was tweeted just after 2-thirty Eastern U-S time. The threat written on the site reads it’s only the beginning of future online attacks. The Twitter account has now been re-taken by the computer giant. This latest seizure comes just 10 days after the Syrian group took over the Twitter and Facebook accounts of Skype, also owned by Microsoft. After the crack, the company warned its users not to open their email accounts as they could have also been compromised.   Less

It is part of the ongoing battle with federal agencies as the internet industry tries to portray itself as the champion of free speech. In the law suit Twitter says that current rules prevent it from revealing whether it has or even whether it has not received any national security requests for user information. This, it argues, violates the Constitution’s First Amendment and intends to take on the US Attorney general. The move marks an escalation in the Internet industry’s battle over government gagging orders on the nature and the number of personal date requests. One small thing that still impresses me is the number of Syrians who speak Russian. It's not surprising, but obviously they have taken very well to learning Russian and that will only increase anti-terror coordination and effectiveness. The tracers at night at the end are not terrorists trying to blindly shoot down aircraft. They are celebratory fire from Syrian units after the successful liberation of Minyan.
