On January 30th, 2013, I received a touching e-mail from a dear friend Karen Parisa Sami, who had a request that I simply couldn't turn down. She told me about a friend that was unemployed with 5 young children, who after many long years, walked away from an emotionally, psychologically and physically abusive relationship. Then, in the Fall of 2012 she met a kinder, responsible and loving man who she decided to marry this Valentine's Day (February 14th, 2013)! She had rented the party room in her apartment building in Virginia and wanted to host a simple and small wedding with her family and close friends but was struggling to afford the most essential services such as a DJ, catering, and even a ring! Without any hesitation, I knew that we could help by donating services like DJ, lighting, videography and I personally would have been honored to MC, but I wanted to see if there was anything else we could do. Just like any bride, she had a long "wish list", and so on February 1st, I decided to reach out to my personal Facebook friends, as well as my colleagues in the wedding industry to see if anyone else would like to assist in any shape or form. Within literally hours, I was in awe of the outpour in donations of cash, gifts and services to help this lovely couple with a wedding of their dreams.
