Often, the Collision-Deformer is used to press the holes in the berry. This slow down my iMac with i7 processor completely. nnI have found that the points Selection of a low poly object is stored when i put it under a Subdivison-Surface and than converts them into a high-resolution Object. A number of my fellow artists and makers have asked me how I achieve this mesh aesthetic and were surprised to find out that it is quite simple. I use edit > make pattern in Meshmixer, a free program by Autodesk. http://www.meshmixer.com/nnI've used many programs and solutions for light weighting and piping effects (including Within and Grasshopper/Rhino) but this is one of the simplest.
