You'll be able to take pictures on sunny days outdoors and in lower light situations indoors on your favorite 35mm film cameras and lenses.nnPeople still do take pictures with 35mm film with rangefinder cameras as well as vintage 35mm SLR cameras like popular ones from Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Minolta, Leica and so many others. That film look is unique and coveted by photographers and some say that look can only be had with film. Digital is great for tak sharp pictures, but that dreamy look can really only be gotten with film.nnAlthough the 400 speed film here has a courser grain than a 50, 100 or 200 film speed, you trade that resolution for being able to take pics in low light situations. With rolls at 24 exposures on the low end, you'll be stuck with a roll in your camera and not be able to change it until the roll is up which is different than just choosing a higher ISO value on your digital camera. This can be a pro or con, depending on who you ask. Film forces you to take your time and compose your frame and getting everything just right due to the price of film developing and processing. But, being stuck with one ASA / ISO film speed can be inconvenient for taking pics all day during sunny or night hours for those that need the best quality reproductions. ASA 50 speed film is going to be very prohibitive for taking pictures at night; as using anything above 400 during the day would be sacrificing quality and introducing too much grain into the pictures. This film is a war documentary produced by one of the "Hollywood Colonels," William Wyler, who joined the Air Force Film unit and recorded the sights and sounds of the last mission of a B-17 bomber known as the Memphis Belle, named after the girlfriend of the pilot.
A narrator told the story of the 10 crewmen as examples of simple average American boys doing a tough job. 
The men and plane were filmed during the bombing raid on the submarine plens in Wilhelmshafen, Germany, "just one mission of just one plane and one crew in one squadron in one group of one wing of one Air Force out of fifteen United States Army Air Forces." 
It used handheld 16mm and 35mm cameras inside the plane to give the perspective of the crew. 
Wyler in fact combined footage from several missions to represent this last 25th mission of the plane, a mission that was actually a milk run with no casualties and no difficult landing. 
He also used film shot by the 8th AAF Combat Camera Unit.
Wyler wanted to film a flak burst but never was able to get one: 
"I could never get one explosion because how the hell do you know where one's going to explode? Once the cloud is there it's too late. All that flak so close to us, and I could never get the explosion." 
From October 1943 to March 1944, Wyler edited in the U.S. the 20,000 feet of film he shot in Europe, producing a 42-minute color film that was considered beautiful and dramatic.

We are here in Sydney, Australia, and I'm really excited. nnWe just got off the plane and today is a dream day. 1, because we are in Sydney, Australia. 2, because when we landed, we got a chance to pick up the new IQ250 back from Phase One and the new Profoto B1 battery powered MonoLight kit. nnWe just have the afternoon here before we need to take off and head down south for a few days but I wanted to take a minute to show off my favorite feature of the Phase One system and that is the leaf shutter lenses and the ability to sync at 1/1600s. That is way faster than what you can do with any other system. As an action and sports photographer I'm always using off camera lighting as a way to really isolate my subject and bring the landscape to life. nnCheck out how easy this is going to be. There is no chords, no cables. Something that I didn't realize when I first started shooting with the Phase One cameras is that you can get the high speed flash sync one of two ways. You can either use an external grip like this. It has the channels right here. The other way that you can get the high speed flash sync with the Phase One is with this air remote. It just slides in the hotshoe on top of the camera and this is what I have been using lately. I really like it because I can control the flashes from my shooting position. I don't need to go to the flash to change the power. nnA normal 35mm camera will let me sync at 1/200s, 1/250s which usually means when you are shooting in the middle of the day, you're shooting at f11 or f16 even so everything is in focus and you are not really overpowering the sun as much as you are competing with the sun and usually the sun is winning that battle. When you have a higher speed flash sync and you have a nice set of strobes, overpowering the sun is pretty easy to do. It has revolutionized how I think about photography, and it makes me able to things I could never do before. nnThe leaf shutter lenses from Phase One are reliable and consistent, so I'm getting 1/1600s sync all the time The whole system is really growing on me and I think it is going to become my workforce for the commercial jobs that I do."   Less
