Originally published on July 20, 2013 A woman died after falling out of the Texas Giant roller coaster at the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park in Arlington, Texas. The accident happened Friday evening about 20 miles west of Texas.Sharon Parker, a spokesperson for the park, confirmed the death, but did not specify what went wrong. According to witnesses the unidentified woman asked for the ride attendants to double check her seat after she only heard one click, as opposed to three, when she was being secured into her seat. The attendant told her that only one click was needed to be heard for securing purposes. "She goes up like this. Then when it drops to come down, that's when it (the safety bar) released and she just tumbled," Carmen Brown told The Dallas Morning News. Witnesses told media local media outlets that the woman was on the ride with her son and fell to hear death. The Texas Giant first opened in 1990 as a an all-wooden coaster. The ride can carry up to 24 riders, has a drop of 79 degrees and a bank if 95 degrees. In 2010 the Texas Giant went through a renovation to install steel-hybrid rails before reopening in 2011. The Texas Giant reaches 14 stories high and is billed as the tallest steel-hybrid coaster in the world. Six Flags has temporarily closed the section of the park where the accident occurred and has not yet released when they will reopen. Unlike most hypercoasters, Titan is a combination of an out and back roller coaster and a twister roller coaster.nnTitan begins by lifting riders up a 245-foot (75 m) hill and then takes a 255-foot (78 m) drop entering a 120-foot (37 m) tunnel. Immediately after the tunnel, riders are taken through a large Carousel turn. Following the Carousel turn, riders encounter a large camel back. The train subsequently enters an uphill 540 degree helix which leads to the mid-course brake run. Next, trains maneuver an overbanked turn, followed by the 2nd, downhill, 540 degree helix. Afterwards, the trains navigate an over-banked turn to the left and then another to the right. After this, the trains hit the final brake run and reenter the station.nWhen the train returns to the station, a cloud of mist can be seen under the train. Giovanola, the company that constructed Titan, had problems with wheels on the trains overheating. So as to prevent this, water is sprayed on every wheel assembly on each train after running the course.nTitan's supports used 2.8 million pounds of steel to manufacture. SOUNDBITE) (English) NADINE KELLEY, WITNESS WHO WAS NEXT IN LINE TO GET ON THE RIDE, SAYING: "We were in line to get on the next ride, the Texas Giant, and when they pulled up, the daughter and the son of the lady that flew out of the car were hysterical and they were saying that their mother flew out of the car and the people working there didn't know what to do and they were asking them to let them out and they didn't let them out for a while... and then the guys that were sitting right behind the lady said that right when they came down off the first bump, and hit that first turn, she flew out."
