JUSTKIDS went at it again transforming Downtown Las Vegas in an open air art gallery for Life Is Beautiful Festival 4th edition inviting artists from all genres and countries including Fafi, Felipe Pantone, Shepard Fairey, Tristan Eaton, Crystal Wagner, Mark Drew, Bezt (Etam Cru), Dulk, Martin Whatson, Amanda Parer, Mike Ross and Justin Favela. What started as an inspiration in 2013 to create a permanent display of urban art in DTLV is now a confirmation. With more than 40 street pieces, the town is now painted and palpitating. While the growing success of Life is Beautiful adds a significant cultural string to Las Vegas, it’s the art that ties the knot by staying in the streets when the music fades and the festival fences disappear. UNGRADED RAW FILE AS SHOTnNikon 50mm 1.4nCheap Audio Technica Lav mike (left channel only)nManfrotto monopodnnThis was really just us chatting in a busy cafe. nNo attempt was made to hide the mic, and I wasn't actually watching the back LCD for most of it (I had espresso to drink). Towards the end I muck around with the focus. nnI'd already shot an interview earlier that I can't put up that I had much deeper focus for and where I used an external LCD monitor. nnWith this I wanted to test the audio side of the D800, (the earlier interview had been dual record) and the minimum rig you could carry for a daytime interview. One small shoulder camera bag (3 primes, lav, headphones, D800) and a monopod is pretty freaking small. It was also to demonstrate to Jeremy (our interviewee) what the camera output looked like. nnIt's about half a stop over, and he moves in and out of very shallow focus, but the definition to my eyes is VERY nice and the skin tone is great. nn*All opinions re Chelsea models own. :-)nn*Important Audio note - if the D800 is plugged in to an LCD monitor via HDMI when you playback a movie, the audio is fed ONLY to the external monitor - your headphones plugged into the Nikon body will be silent. That's an odd quirk, but not a huge issue for me so far now that I know.   Less
