A little girl is singing straight to the camera during a street gathering when a mortar strikes just a few metres behind her, throwing the innocent scene into bloody chaos. This is not a dramatically staged fiction film, but the reality of daily life in Syria. "Somebody has to know what this monster is doing to us, to his own people. I'm making sure that somebody is going to know," says Nour. Aged 24, she has abandoned her teaching job to become a war photographer. "I'm not afraid of death", she says. "So many girls have died in their kitchen." The memory of her friends who have died or been tortured and raped during the conflict strengthens Nour's determination to continue the fight. She firmly believes, "we're going to build this whole country again from scratch". A US high school student faces the prospect of a punishment a lot worse than detention after he allegedly stole a school bus and took it for a joyride before crashing the vehicle at a petrol station. The 14-year-old from Roseville, Minnesota, told police he saw the bus left unattended and with its engine running at a petrol station around 8am on Monday morning. The teen, who has not been identified, said he then jumped into the driver's seat and attempted to take it back to the depot of its owner, Centerline Charter Corporation. The boy managed to get the bus to the station but appears to have panicked when he heard a over the radio that it had been reported as stolen. Police say the boy then attempted to make a break for it and drove away from the depot unaware he was being followed by a Centreline employee. He drove through peak hour traffic, reportedly running a red light, before crashing at a second petrol station about 5km away. The accident could have been a lot worse, with the teenager narrowly avoiding slamming the bus into a bank of petrol bowsers when he crashed.
