Yesterday, our adorable dog Bailey passed away unexpectedly at age 4. We were unaware that an artificial sweetener, Xylitol, is toxic to canines. She stole a cake off the counter made with the chemical, and within 48 hours her liver failed. It's virtually impossible to describe how much pain and sadness we're all feeling. Our other dog, Hendrix, is suffering the worst. He was raised with Bailey. (half brother) They were inseparable. Even if Hendrix and Bailey were separated for a day, they would get depressed. Everyone who met Bailey loved her. When we first picked her up from the farm in South Carolina, we knew she was different. Bailey always had this distinctive smirk on her face.
