The group spearhead a local campaign bribing politicians to ensure wives for the villagers in return for their vote in the upcoming general elections. The Haryana state has the lowest gender ratio in India, with 877 women per 1,000 men according to the 2011 census data, leading to many men remaining unmarried. With their campaign the men hope to raise awareness for not only their plight, but also for the larger issue of female foeticide in India. While Bibipur has taken a lead in combating abortion of girls, the current lack of women forces many men to take desperate measures such as buying wives through organised agencies. The five week election will take place from April 7 to May 12, 2014, to elect representatives in 543 parliamentary constituencies in India.
