Buryat musicians performed the main theme from the American fantasy TV series The Game of Thrones on traditional Mongolian instruments, practicing the rousing music in the eastern Siberian city of Ulan-Ude. Artists of “Baikal” Buryat State National Theatre of Song and Dance, Aldar Dashiev, Altana Rinchinova and Larisa Sharaldayeva, played the popular melody dressed in traditional Buryat dress. SOT, Aldar Dashiev, soloist of Buryat State National Theatre of Song and Dance “Baikal” (Russian): "Why Game of Thrones? Because our administrator Gombo Dambiev suggested playing exactly this melody on folk instruments. And I downloaded the notes from the internet, looked at them and posted it [the video] on the internet." SOT, Altana Rinchinova , artist of Buryat State National Theatre of Song and Dance “Baikal” (Russian): "I read in the comments [to the video] on social networks that the people were just interested and asked if maybe we could come to the city of Irkutsk, for example, or another towns. Not long distances but anyway, they asked when we could come to their cities and give a concert using these covers and soundtracks. People are interested in it." SOT, Larisa Sharaldayeva, Honoured Artist of Buryatia, artist of the orchestra of the Buryat State National Theatre of Song and Dance “Baikal” (Russian): "Such a symbiosis is interesting for us personally. Especially when European, classical, or ethno-rock [music] is combined with folk instruments, it results in very beautiful and unusual music and for the listeners it sounds delectable."
