The Hot Seat Volume 1 Episode 1 - Aladdin Industries | Marketing Show | Marketing Consultant We’ve Lit Some Pants on Fire! That’s right, the “Perfect Trifecta” (Janelle, Tyler, and Cory) put our new friends, Aladdin Industries, in the hot seat this week. We took a look at their current marketing and online presence… the result? A whole lot of learning, a whole lot of work ahead, and a whole lot of KickFire fun! About Aladdin Founded in 1962, Aladdin Industries has grown to be one of the major manufacturers of skylights in the intermountain west. They do absolutely world-class work – and it’s time they look like it! Watch as we start to light up Aladdin Industries’ business! Partial Transcription: Cory: "So Aladdin's Skylights real quick, real quick intro. Aladdin's Skylights was started back in the beginning of the 1960's, so it has been around a while. They manufacture sky lights of all kinds, from various small tubular sun tunnel skylights, that light up closets or dark bathrooms or hallways, to great big huge custom architectural skylights like big libraries or even hospitals, things like that." Janelle: "So are we talking more consumer based, or we are talking..." Cory: "So definitely both, but I feel like their main target is actually the, you know, is contractors and builders, things like that." Janelle: "Cool, because I just typed in Google Search, except it's not Google Search. What is this?" Janelle: "Nice. They are being indexed. Tyler: "That looks good." Cory: "If you haven't Googled your company and see..." Janelle: "You should see." Cory: "See if you're there." Janelle: "Should we go into the Google Plus page problems or should we go straight to the web site first?" Tyler: "I'd say go to the.." Janelle: "Website first. Alright. Aladdin Industries - Whoa! Is this a website?" (Laughter) Wait. K." Tyler: "I swear I did one of these in Dreamweaver in like 2003." Janelle: "Wow, I don't think I was on the internet in 2003." Tyler: "1998." Janelle: "This is all news to me. This is Wow. Maybe it gets bigger if we click on something. I'm going to click on company profile." Tyler: "It seems like it was made in 2004, so it's eleven years old. I think it could use a refresh." Cory: "So we don't need to say anything about the design right? That's pretty clear." Tyler: "Eleven years. It was probably pretty rad." Janelle: "Back in the day." Tyler: "In 2004." Janelle: "I mean the logo." Tyler: "It was. I mean it probably was like the shiz of 2004." Janelle: "Bringing the outdoors indoors. I'm diggin that. I would definitely kind of play with that tag line there, the layout. Okay." Cory: "Although, does that, is that like, like nature, like or, are you going to get, I don't know, like deer running through your house?" Janelle: "Yah, that's true...the outdoors indoors. I try to keep the outdoors outside, but I get what they are saying." Cory: "I'd want light. Yah." Janelle: "Let's play with the words "light" yah. Let the light shine or where there is light, there is life. Look at this copy, not bad. Why an Aladdin Skylight? The philosophy is the heart of what we do at Aladdin Industries. Well, we probably can read in our heads if you would like to read in your heads as well. We'll tell you what we think about this copy. Tyler: "It's pretty good. Come on. It's not bad." Janelle: "Yah. No. It just needs to be more customer oriented." Tyler: "Well, I mean, hold on, let me drive for just a second here." Janelle: "Yah. Drive for a second." Tyler: "So check this out. We are going to make this into a mobile web site and squeeze it down it's not going to look great." Janelle: "It's not a great mobile. So it's not...I could have told you it wasn't going to respond." Tyler: "Well, you know, some of those old template table websites actually respond pretty well, way better than the new stuff." Janelle: "Really? Well good thing you were talking about that." Cory: "So anyway, About Page, this is about Aladdin and a compelling About Page does say, you know, what you're about, but what you're about is about your customers, right? So you're answering questions right there. It's where the Why were the solution pretty much." Janelle: "Yah. We want to look for the pinpoints and then, yah, how we solve that problem. Nobody cares about you. They care about them. So make it all about them and what you do for them. Make sense?" Tyler: "So it talks about reputation right there. Do they have a reputation online?" Cory: "We should see." Janelle: "Let's see. Tyler, great Command T."
