The Architect Music Group recently released a track called 'Go Hard Like Putin' which has been downloaded and listened to thousands of times since June. The artists say they wrote the song over two days, and their inspiration came out of respect for the Russian president. The group's lead rapper 'K. King' clarified in a previous interview that his personal support of Putin is rooted in resisting American pressure but that the song was not politically motivated. Explaining the message, he said: "It's simple, go hard like Vladimir Putin, because there's no reason to be soft, you've got to go hard." The Russian president's acclaim in the group comes from his ability to make strong decisions. Female fighters who are all members of the Peshmerga, meaning those who face death, form part of a Kurdish militia group based in Kurdish controlled areas in Syria. While combat roles in the Syrian army and armed opposition are rarely reserved for women, Kurdish Peshmerga forces have traditionally enlisted female front-line fighters for their militia and for this reason are considered one of the most progressive armies in the world. While Kurdish areas within Syria have not been the focal point of the conflict, a report surfaced on Tuesday of an unconfirmed massacre of 450 Kurds by Al Qaeda linked insurgents, stirring international concern. According to Iranian TV channel Al Alam, militants from the Jabhat Al Nusra Front attacked the town of Tell Abyad near the Turkish border on Monday, killing 120 children and 330 women and elderly. Traditionally leftist and accepting of female leadership roles, Peshmerga women can rise to the rank of iconic figureheads. In January this year three PKK women, including the organisation's co-founder, were shot dead in Paris. In July, clashes between Kurdish fighters and insurgents flared after Al Nusra Front attacked a convoy of Kurdish women fighters Ras Al Ain in Syria's north-eastern border area with Turkey, according to the UK based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates that up to five Kurdish women's brigades are currently operating on numerous fronts in the Syrian conflict including fighting with opposition groups.   Less

When they noticed a car rushing at a speed exceeding 60 km/h (40 mph), the maximum speed allowed in Russian cities, the half-naked women raised road signs reading '60' or '40'. Most of the speeding drivers turned out to be men, who immediately slowed down to admire the bare female figures. The public organisation 'Autodvijenie' from Nizhny Novgorod organised the flash mob ahead of a September 1 law change that will mean drivers are only fined for exceeding the speed limit by 20 km/h, instead of 10 km/h like previously. According to statistics provided by the official Russian traffic police, 203,597 road accidents occurred in Russia in 2012, in which 27,991 people died and 258,618 were injured. The garrison has been part of a case study on army gender relations conducted by the Information Centre for Gender Research in Norway, and as a result the base is one of only a handful in the country where male and female soldiers sleep in the same bedrooms. The report has concluded that co-ed barracks facilitate "degenderisation", and 19-year-old Elina Schnell Hjelle from the south-western town of Kristiansund agreed that sharing with boys was not a problem. The small issues of putting on clean underwear was easily achieved by changing under the duvet. Officers at the base confirmed the report's claims that team moral in mixed-sex groups were up as a result of the sleeping arrangements. Private Mathias Hoegevold, 19, from the eastern town of Elverum, said that romantic relationships had not developed as a result of coed living, as they were all "just soldiers". The report also found that sexual harassment was down in mixed-gender barracks. Private Hjelle said there would always be some 'boys' talk' at the room, but nothing that she felt uncomfortable with. The Garrison of South Varanger has around 500 conscript soldiers, of which 15 are volunteer women.
