On 10 MAR 2014, at approximately (APPROX) 1420 hours, I was approached by Tacoma PD Officer D. Reda. I was photographing/videoing a small protest at the Northwest Detention Center, US. Department of Homeland Security, Tacoma, WA. Officer Freda is an example of what a good encounter with police (while being a law-abiding citizen) should be. He approached me with professionalism and courtesy. He informed me why he was there. He did not demand ID, use threatening language or gestures, or over-step his official duties. TPD Officer Reda is the benchmark for what professionalism by our officers should look like. I hope his superiors identify him, support him, and eventually promote him...if this is how he carries himself as a Police Officer. The actual encounter begins @ 0.43 seconds, and goes to approx 1:30. For an "encounter" to last UNDER a minute is a wonderful thing!
