I don't wish that anyone gets more stressed because they have a watch that tells them when they're statistically gonna die." When you have the watch it's very easy to talk about it because it's an interesting subject, because it's sort of a new idea. But I think a lot of people take it, sort of, they take their lives and happiness seriously, so they actually see this as a tool to remind themselves that 'hey, oh, I only have 30 years left, I'm gonna follow my dreams, I'm gonna do what I always wanted to do.'" The watch combines data such as gender, age and lifestyle to calculate the average time until the user's death. Tikker has been developed over the past two years by a team headed by Colting, with the idea that the countdown would motivate people to make the most of their lives. Thus Colting presents it as the 'happiness watch', despite it often being referred to as the 'death watch'. A total of 5,000 units have been pre-ordered so far, and will be shipped by the end of May. The watch will then be available for $79 (€56), in two different colours, black and white.
