The Turkish boy is a sissy for calling his father. Sorry to say, but there are some character traits in Turks which I don't really like. They are double faced and treacherous, until 2010 for example Assad and Syria were Erdogan's "best friends". In 2011, Turkey used this trust from the SYrians to smuggle terrorists and weapons into the country. Backstabbers! Less

Russia is working on modernizing its S-300 air defense missile systems to supply to Iran. A senior advisor to Russian president Vladimir Putin says the missiles are to undergo an upgrade before being delivered to Iran, since the original contract with Iran was signed a long time ago. He did not mention any specifics about the modernizing project or the time of delivery . Iran signed a contract with Russia to purchase the system in 2007, but Moscow banned the delivery in 2010, saying the agreement violated the UN Security Council Sanctions against Iran. On April 13, President Putin revoked the ban. Less

Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith shared on his Facebook page a recent confrontation a Lawtey police officer had with a 60-year-old subject that "aggressively" approached him. Recently, Lawtey Police Officer, Jay Raulerson, was confronted with a dangerous situation during a call to assist a motorist. Officer Raulerson was notified by passing motorists about a silver Toyota stopped in the median with the driver attempting to wave down vehicles. As he pulled up to render assistance, the subject suddenly exited his vehicle and aggressively approached Officer Raulerson. With literally seconds to decide his response, Officer Raulerson used a less than lethal tactic to bring the situation under control. After further investigation, the subject was taken into custody for a medical evaluation prior to pursuing any criminal charges. Less

Swedish prosecutors will this week drop their investigations into three accusations of sexual assault against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who is still holed up the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The allegations were brought in 2010 but under Sweden’s five year statute of limitations they are due to expire by August 18. He still faces the more serious allegation of rape, which has a 10 year limit. Assange jumped bail in London 2012 while fighting extradition to Sweden where he was wanted for questioning. He feared that if he went to Sweden he would be extradited to the United States where he could face criminal charges relating to Wikileaks. He sought political asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy where he has been ever since. Assange still has not actually been charged with any crimes. Less

Prosecutors in Sweden have dropped two sexual assault cases against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Five years since two women made the allegations against Assange, which he denies, time has run out to question him under Swedish law. Assange claimed political asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy in London in June 2012. He wanted a guarantee from Sweden they would not hand him over to the US to face espionage charges. “The decision was expected since the statute of limitation has run out, but of course it’s deeply regrettable that it has come this far and it raises a whole lot of questions around how the prosecution has dealt with this case,” said Assange’s Swedish defence lawyer Thomas Olsson. An allegation of sexual molestation will expire on Tuesday, but an investigation into an alleged rape can continue until 2020. Swedish law states no charges can be brought without interviewing the accused first. These alleged events, which Assange denies, also took place in August 2010. Swedish prosecutors are now in talks with Ecuadorian diplomats to interview Assange at the embassy. Less

Irvington, NJ - Nearly a dozen kids and two adults were hurt Thursday morning when a mini-school bus went out of control, crashed into an SUV and then slammed into a building in Irvington, New Jersey. The bus driver told witnesses and police the brakes failed before she could stop at the busy intersection. Irvington Township Police Director Musa Malik said the bus ran through a red light. Surveillance video from a nearby bodega shows the bus sailing through the intersection before striking the building. People can be seen running and scrambling to help the children on board. “I didn’t speak to her, she just came out of the bus and she was saying, ‘My brakes went off on me,'” Marie Shenouda, the bodega owner who called 911, told Rincon. “I told her, ‘It’s OK. It’s going to be fine.'” The accident took place around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Sanford Avenue. The bus was coming down Sanford Avenue and slammed into a Toyota Rav 4 that was heading east on Springfield Avenue, police said. The Rav 4 hit a light pole as the bus crashed into the side of Home Liquors on Springfield Avenue Less

The Thai government has vowed to “hunt down” those responsible for a rush hour bombing in the capital Bangkok. The explosion happened close to the popular Erawan Shrine#, killing at least 19 people and wounding more than 120 others. Foreign tourists are among the casualties. In a statement Thailand’s national police chief Somyot Poompummuang, said the blast radius of the bomb was about 100 metres and experts estimate the device weighed about 3 kg. “body parts strewn across the street” Witnesses have described graphic scenes of the carnage after the explosion with body parts scattered everywhere. A local taxi driver described hearing the blast. he said, “ My heart was beating fast but I wasn’t afraid so I came to see. I saw wounded people with arms ripped off from the shoulder, another’s leg was torn off. I helped carry them into the hospital,” said Sithit Manukham. Bangkok explosion: deadly blast near popular shrine kills at least 18 http://t.co/XczNfLFk34 #DailyTelegraph #telegraph #news— WorldNews_net (@worldnews_net) August 17, 2015 The explosion was caught on CCTV. The well known shrine is right next to a five-star hotel and people around it were hit by the full force of the blast. Some think Thailand’s tourist industry was the target. Who is to blame? No one has claimed responsibility and experts thinks it’s unlikely that Muslim rebels fighting a low level insurgency in the predominantly Buddhist country’s south are involved. Thailand has been riven for a decade by an intense and sometimes violent struggle for power between political factions in Bangkok. Occasional small blasts have been blamed on one side or the other. Two pipe bombs exploded outside a luxury shopping mall in the same area in February, but cause little damage. Police said that attack was aimed at raising tension when the city was under martial law. The army has ruled Thailand since May 2014, when it ousted an elected government after months of at times violent anti-government protests. The shrine intersection was the site of months of anti-government protests in 2010 by supporters of ousted former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Dozens were killed in a military crackdown and a shopping centre was set ablaze. Less

The North says South Korea started this latest shouting match with propaganda loudspeakers resuming broadcasts stopped for more than a decade. The South retorts it was in response to a landmine attack on two border guards. The north says stop or we prepare for war. The armistice border has been rarely quiet since the 1950s. In 2010 nearly 50 sailors died and an island was bombarded in the last serious exchanges. The latest tension is another reverse for anyone in the South arguing for trying to revive talks with the North. And the propaganda from Pyongyang sounds more unrelenting than usual. “They should not forget that the KPA military action means indiscriminate strikes which envisage even possible engagement and escalating counteraction” How different is this latest rise in border tensions? Missiles may be used against one or all of the South’s 12 loudspeaker sites, but that in itself would hardly be a reason for war to resume. More likely would be a tit-for-tat exchange, as the North has resumed using its own loudspeakers, to allow everyone to save face. The South is also currently holding its annual wargame with the USA, normally a moment when border issues can enflame or relations worsen, when the North often claims it is about to be attacked. The only thing the North can be relied on to be is unreliable insists the South’s major ally. “As always, we have an unstable, unpredictable, provocative North Korea that we have to be concerned with.” says General Ray Odierno, US army Chief of Staff. There has been speculation Kim Jong-un may have a weaker hold on North Korea than previously thought. so sabre-rattling may now serve different people than before, or it may become more frequent. But as usual really knowing anything about what goes on inside this most secretive country is all-but-impossible. These latest declarations are all part of the halting half-century dialogue between North and South Korea. Less

Israeli media have revealed that Tel Aviv had three separate plans to attack Iran over the past few years, but they were all blocked for different reasons. Former minister of military affairs Ehud Barak has been quoted as saying that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had pushed to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities in 2010 and 2011. The 2010 attack plan was aborted due to opposition from Barak’s former peer Gabi Ashkenazi. And the 2011 plan was sabotaged by two cabinet ministers Yuval Steinitz and Moshe Ya’alon, the second being the current minister of military affairs. Barak, also a former prime minister, says a third plan for an attack in 2012 was aborted because of bad timing. Israel had to conduct a joint military exercise with the US at the time. Less

The EU has hailed the pardon and release of six jailed opposition figures by the veteran President of Belarus, Aleksander Lukashenko, as a “long-sought step forward”. “We now expect the authorities of Belarus to remove all restrictions on the enjoyment of full civil and political rights of the released,” EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and EU enlargement commissioner Johannes Hahn said in a joint statement. Former presidential candidate Mikola Statkevitch is among those released, less than two months ahead of the next presidential poll in Belarus. It is now too late for him to stand again. “I didn’t think Lukashenko would dare release me before elections but they are probably out of money,” said Statkevich, in a likely reference to Western sanctions still in place over Belarus’s human rights record. “The opposition is in a stalemate situation today. And it is unclear what to do. That is why they have released me.” Lukashenko, who has ruled the former Soviet republic for over 20 years, is standing for a fifth consecutive term in October. His press service said the pardons were motivated by humane principles. Any such principles were in little evidence during the last presidential poll in 2010 Huge street demonstrations were dispersed by riot police. Several opposition candidates were beaten up and detained and dissenters rounded up. Lukashenko, who a US top diplomat once said ran Europe’s last dictatorship, is largely ostracised by Western governments because of his intolerance towards political opposition. There have been small signs of a thaw this year in relations, with Lukashenko distancing himself from the policies of Russia – his country’s biggest ally – towards neighboring Ukraine, and reviving contacts with EU and US officials. The prisoner releases have also been welcomed by Germany which has raised the prospect of ‘closer cooperation’. #Germany welcomes release of Statkevich and other polit. prisoners in #Belarus. In past weeks we have seen and heard much about General Soleimani, commander of the Quds force, but other individuals are seldom seen in western media. Hossein Salami, just as Soleimani, was combat soldier early on in the imposed war and fought in the front lines. He lost many of his childhood friends in the war and just as Soleimani he should be be listened to. The grievances these men hold goes beyond US support for Saddam or even looking away when he used chemical weapons. In 2001 and 2003 they were order to support the American in Afghanistan by joining the northern alliance with US forces and later in Iraq to curve down US casualties by Shia resistance. Western media speaks of Soleimanis responsibility of the deaths of 500 Americans when in reality not only is Soleimani not responsible for those deaths but he is responsible for saving THOUSANDS of Americans by forcing the Shia majority of Iraq to NOT RESIST. Today we can look back and see how they repaid that gesture. In 2006 we saw how they repaid that debt by allowing and even promoting an invasion on BRAVE Lebanon. On Sunday the supreme leader iterated that even today they call the bravest of them all, Hezbollah fighters, terrorists. In Syria precious life's of Lebanese soldiers are being wasted because of the insane support of Takfiri and Wahhabi Arab rat holes. Just as 3000 Hezbollah fighters stood against a titan army from air, sea and land we will also stand up against them, not only in response to an invasion but even an preemptive attack to cleans the world from this infectious disease. IRGC patience can be measured in the span of decades but at some point they will not ask anymore, they will act. If their bravery is only half of what Hezbollah soldiers showed, then even America can be defeated. We will not be alone either, the iron fist of Hezbollah will be on our side. A 12-year-old boy got an unusually close look at a 17th century floral still-life when he stumbled and punched a hole into the painting, estimated to be worth 1.3 million euros. “Flowers,” by Italian artist Paolo Porpora, was on display at a Taipei exhibition when the boy tripped, lost balance and tore through the canvas with his hand clenched around a drink he was apparently trying not to spill. Picture of the hole in the paiting: Picture of the painting’s restoration The boy and his family were sincerely apologetic about the gaffe and won’t face any punishment, the exhibition’s organizers said. The painting, which belongs to a private collector and was insured, immediately underwent restoration and was back on display on Tuesday, alongside other artwork influenced by Leonardo da Vinci. As the Guardian reminds us, the Taipei boy is not the first visitor to smash into a valuable piece of art. In the UK in 2006, a man tripped on his shoelace and stumbled into three 300-year-old Chinese porcelain vases on display at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, smashing them to pieces. In 2010, a woman fell into a Picasso displayed at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, damaging it with a 15cm tear. Another memorable blunder dates back to 2006, when casino owner Steve Wynn elbowed ‘Le Rêve,’ a 1932 portrait Picasso painted of his mistress Marie-Therese Walter. Wynn had purchased the masterpiece for $48.4 million and was about to sell it. Its restoration cost $90,000. Less

According to police: Around 7:25 p.m. Aug. 15, the robber pulled into the 76 Gas Station on Route 36 in the Belford section of Middletown and asked for $10 worth of gasoline. After paying the attendant, the thief grabbed the worker’s nail apron, which contained cash. The robber drove off, dragging the worker about 35 feet toward the highway until the nail apron ripped away. The driver continued onto Route 36 north. The thief got away with about $1,500 and the nail apron, which has the words “Fuel One” across the front. The vehicle is believed to be a white, four-door 2009 to 2012 Toyota Corolla LE with tinted windows, no wheel covers and no visible license plates. The driver was black, possibly male. As official campaigning starts in Myanmar’s long-awaited general election the leader of the National League for Democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi is calling on the world to keep a close eye on the process. The NLD is widely expected to win the poll, which will be the first democratic election since the end of military rule “We hope that the world understands how important it is for us to have free and fair elections”, said the NLD leader in a video message. “Please help us by observing what happens before the elections, during the elections, and, crucially, after the elections. This is the best contribution you can make to peace and democracy in this country.” The campaign begins less then a month after a major presidential contender and opponent of President Thein Sein, was removed as USDP party leader. His dismissal was seen as a move by the president to tighten his political grip ahead of the vote. The USDP won the last general election, which was held under military rule in 2010 and widely condemned as rigged. The fear is that the military will find it hard to give up its hold on power and accept a democratic result. The constitution still grants the military at least 25% of parliamentary seats, so any party or pact would need to win at least two-thirds of the remaining seats in order to choose the next president.
