Found these girls abandoned, freezing in the cold. Tied to a tree. Vet says they were used for breeding, bred many times at such a young age. Two of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. Had them spade, vaccinated, micro-chipped etc. Caring for them for about 2 months now, looking for a Forever home for them. I'd keep them but I already have 2 dogs in the house! Being overweight can be really troublesome. But it's totally devastating for this Chinese man who weighs a whopping 300 kilos. Sun Le-yang's weight has caused him a lot of troubles. Recently, the 22-year-old became ill at his home but he couldn’t move himself. And when an ambulance arrived, the paramedics were unable to move him onto a stretcher. So, a dozen security men were sent to help shift him. When he was sent to hospital, he had acute kidney failure and was in critical condition. Sun’s doctors say he can live a long life if he reduces his weight by more than half. Less

The feistiest hummingbird in North America - Yesterday, a Rufous hummingbird flew into our garage and up to the skylight. He was unable to realize he could not get out, and would not come down to where he could see the open garage door. A hummer would not last long expending so much energy in the heat of the skylight. I managed to capture him with a net. I held him until he was calm, gave him a few drops of water and released him. He flew off with no problem. Sorry for the dirty hands, I was gardening when I noticed him. My first upload, sorry so pedestrian but I wish to contribute as well as comment. Less

New Quay inshore RNLI lifeboat was called into action at 5pm after the alarm was raised that the girl was trapped inside the sea defences, as the tide was beginning to rise. It was the first call out for 17-year-old RNLI volunteer Tom Evans who crawled inside the rock and helped release the girl by cutting her out of her wellington boots. Ben Billingham, RNLI mechanic at New Quay was also on board the inshore lifeboat with RNLI volunteer Brett Stones. Ben said: ‘We reached the scene and it really was quite dramatic as waves were beginning to crash against the rocks. Tom did a really great job of crawling down into the rock to reach the girl. He cut her wellington so he could push her forward to free her as the tide was coming in behind her. 'The sea defences weight about six or seven tonnes and can only be described as giant rocks. It was certainly one of the more unusual incidents we have attended, but we never quite know what to expect when the call for help comes. 'We're just glad the incident came to a positive conclusion and it was certainly an interesting first shout for Tom.' Patrol Officer Ismael Quintana was on patrol when he heard a call for assistance regarding a child victim of a drowning. Officer Quintana arrived on scene in the driveway of a home in the 2600 Block of Wade Avenue where he saw a woman kneeling beside a small child who was not breathing. Officer Quintana learned that the child had climbed into a backyard pool and had been found underwater. Quintana immediately reacted and began giving chest compressions to the young boy, two year old Drances O'Connor, who lay lifeless on the ground. The boy's aunt, Cynthia O'Connor, assisted and as water rushed out of the boy's mouth and nose, he began to take shallow breaths. This whole incident was captured on Patrol Officer Quintana's Taser body camera. The body cameras are being used by officers throughout the division; the program is still in a pilot phase. The heroic efforts of officers are often overlooked, but in this case we can see first-hand the way Officer Quintana's actions impacted the life of Drances and his family.
