This is a trip I took recently from the ferry to my house. I live in an ordinary Chinese city, and I thought people might like to see what it's like to live here. I use an electric scooter, it's great. You get to travel in the separate bike lane and they're faster and more convenient than bicycles. You can drive a car if you want, but traffic and especially parking are problems. A lot of people love to say "they don't know how to drive!" or "they're crazy". It's not that, it's just that the rules of the road are different. In fact, after learning them, I find I actually prefer them to back home. They're more streamlined and smart drivers can take advantage. Back home is like playing Super Smash Bros. in super-safe boring mode. But rule number 1 in China, and the one that inevitably pisses off Westerners used to super-safe mode, is that you're responsible for your own safety, all the time. They are locked into one idea that everything should be exactly like it is in America or Europe, and this is the only way that things should ever be. If you don't like it get the hell out of China, says I. The trip is about 15 minutes and I hope you can relax and enjoy the sights and sounds. If it's a bit bouncy...sorry. The roads are just bumpy. Here is an annotation of things to look out for on the video: 0:00 Exiting the ferry. I had originally wanted to show the whole trip across the ferry, but I screwed up and pointed the camera too high and it pointed at the sky instead of the road. Also there was a long delay casting off the pier which usually doesn't happen, so that would have been boring to watch. 1:48 I take a wrong turn, I'm not used to going out of this exit. 4:30 The aftermath of a two car collision. 4:40 An idiot on a bicycle is not going straight, but is swerving back and forth taking up the entire bike lane. This happens all the time. They are unpredictable and will crash right into you. Usually I would have beeped the horn at him to pass but I wanted to let everyone see it for themselves. 9:00 Duck's head cart. It's a popular late-night snack after drinking. Sort of like a portable Denny's. You hold the beak and eat it like a lollipop. 9:07 Bentley. Maybe someone can identify the exact model. I see about one of these per week. 13:39 Cars have blocked off the bike lane so I take a shortcut through traffic. Banzai! 14:20 I cut off a taxi to get into the alley. So I contacted the California bulldog rescue and posted a casting call on their websites. Out of the approximately 40 responses, I invited and met a few dogs and their owners for two days in LA. Some of the owners had their dogs better trained than any professional dog trainer I'd met before. The best dog was "Tank" and the craziest owner was Cindy Sneller -- so they got the deal. Cindy and her boyfriend Fred, who both came along to the shoot days, ended up being the right choice.nnThe shoot was crazy! Some things to remember was how difficult it was to find a tattoo shop that would let us and the dog in and give us a shoot permit with all those health laws in the US. I think my producer went to see about 20 tattoo shops before he found one that was up for doing the scene. We had a great time shooting the strip bar scenes. Luckily I bumped into a German strip bar owner in North Hollywood who rented us out his place for 500 bucks or so, which is usually a location you'd have to pay much much more for in LA. And then we had to find a stripper who was down for having sex with a dog on camera! It was quite a challenge to get this all together. Less

Little did we know that shortly Davy Jones would be gone. Editing this was really difficult at first because the reality of him being gone became surreal. Kevin Fulton and I agree that his short presence in our lives is madly inspiring. nnThis was an impromptu interview that just kept going. It was shot hand held with available lighting. Davy and the cast made appearances on the "Ed Sullivan Show." The reason you don't remember it because they were on the same night as new rock group making their first appearance in America, The Beatles.nnAfter "Oliver," Hollywood wanted Davy for a TV series. He was picked to play Robin in the new ABC show "Batman." He turned it down when he found "the Monkee's."nnOne of the things that will always stick with me, is that Davy always said "follow your dreams, follow your heart." He learned that from his father. His father taught him, "There is only one person like you, so go after your dream." Davy did just that. He also taught me to always follow your dream and be happy. That was his philosophy of life.
