Anybody who has lost a beloved pet knows the heartache.Eric Hough, from Huntington Beach, California was recently reunited with his long lost pooch named Bayou who went missing for three years. Although Hough contacted police, he never learned what happened to his dog. Fast forward to three years - police officers in Florida brought a stray dog into a shelter in Brevard County. Employees at the shelter learned Eric Hough was the owner after scanning the dog’s microchip. As yet another success story, microchipping recently helped reunite the Roberts family from Rogers, Arkansas, with their 9-pound Pomeranian dog named Koda found 1,300 miles away in the San Diego area. With around one third of pets getting lost and only 1 in 10 ever getting found, permanently microchipping pets has become increasingly popular. As yet another success story, microchipping recently helped reunite the Roberts family from Rogers, Arkansas, with their 9-pound Pomeranian dog named Koda found in the San Diego area. The 8-year-old dog went missing for more than 2 months while Stephanie Roberts and her kids put up posters and searched for Koda. A local San Diego resident brought Koda to County Animal Services where they used the microchip to contact Roberts. According to Dan DeSousa, from the Department of Animal Services, the quickest way to recover a lost pet is through microchipping. DeSousa said, “We always tell people it’s your animal’s ticket home.” Having good pe Less

A 2-year-old stray dog living in Greenville, South Carolina is at the center of a baffling case after an old black and white photo was discovered tucked inside his collar. Both dogs and humans have stories to tell, but it’s the pooches that aren’t able to vocally share that information. A 2-year-old stray dog living in Greenville, South Carolina is at the center of a baffling case after an old black and white photo was discovered tucked inside his collar. The pitbull, now named Soldier was bought to Greenville County Animal Care on January 13th. Having no microchip or tags to look-up Soldier’s owner has contributed to the mystery concerning both the pooch and the photo.Baffled, workers at the animal center decided to attempt putting the pieces together. Said a spokesperson at the shelter “It's a really small photo, it's black and white, of a man leaning against a gate post or a railing…… It's a really wide collar, canvas, and it's got an opening. A woman in Tampa is in deep trouble after she allegedly performed a c-section on a dog without using any anesthesia to mask the pain. A woman in Tampa is in deep trouble after she allegedly performed a c-section on a dog without using any anesthesia to mask the pain. 31-year-old Candace Patricia Hauser is facing a charge of aggravated animal cruelty. According to police, a woman, Brenda Hines, brought a pregnant mastiff to Hauser's residence because the suspect said she could provide veterinary assistance to the dog named Nadia in delivering the puppies.Nadia was having difficulty giving birth to the final two puppies, so Hauser performed a caesarean on the dog. After that was done, she allegedly used nonsurgical glue to seal the incision. Nadia reportedly died in Hines’ car after the hasty procedure. Hauser has denied the allegations against her and told a reporter she is the dog owner and that Nadia is still alive. She also claimed all 10 puppies are healthy and living in her house. Despite the conflicting information, one thing is certain, Hauser does not possess a license to offer veterinary care. Ron Spiller of Hillsborough County Animal Safety and Enforcement stated ‘To cut a dog open with no anesthesia. Oh my gosh. I have a 30-year law enforcement career and the circumstances in this case makes my skin crawl.’ Less

A man in New Jersey, Barrett Griner got an odd surprise in the mail on April 11th. A letter was addressed to IV Griner who is Barrett's 5-year-old German Shepherd. Many people believe dogs are outstanding judges of character, but that doesn't necessarily mean they belong in a courtroom. A man in New Jersey, Barrett Griner got an odd surprise in the mail on April 11th. A letter was addressed to IV Griner. Barrett was certainly confused as that’s his 5-year-old German Shepherd’s name. The mail was addressed from the Cumberland County Clerk of Courts and once Barrett opened it up he realized it was a jury summons. He eventually learned the name on the notice turned out to be a computer generated mistake. Dennis Moffa, Cumberland County’s Judiciary Coordinator elaborated on the mishap stating ‘This happens many times. As an example, if you had John Henry IV, sometimes the notice might just say Henry IV. I think that the computer probably randomly picks some things that are probably not as on point as they should be.’ Given that Barrett’s proper name is actually complete with Roman numerals, he now suspects the letter should have been addressed to Barrett Griner IV, but got mixed up somehow, leading it to look as though the notice was sent to the dog. Although the German Shepherd won't be serving jury duty this time around, Barrett says she might be a good choice for a cat burglar case. Less
