We had the honor of being contacted by Saatchi & Saatchi NY to produce a series of 3 TV commercials for Lucky Charms, one of the most emblematic General Mills' cereal products. The spot was entirely done in traditional animation. We designed all the characters including "Lucky the Leprechaun", considered an icon of the American culture. Each commercial tells a different fun and magical adventure for Lucky and his charms. Movie: Miguel Fluxá, head of Spanish shoe brand Camper, says the company's use of high-profile designers for its stores is more about brand-building than making money in this movie filmed at the opening of the company's latest New York store.nnCamper has commissioned a host of internationally renowned designers to design its stores around the world.nn"We've worked with many people, from Martí Guixé to the Bouroullec Brothers, the Campana Brothers, Alfredo Haberli, Tokujin Yoshioka and Shigeru Ban," says Fluxá, who was speaking at the opening of the brand's store on Fifth Avenue in New York designed by Japanese design company Nendo.nnFluxá says that the company took this approach to its store design when the company first started expanding outside of Spain.nn"We thought it was interesting not to repeat [the design of the Spanish stores]," he explains. "The world today is becoming a little bit boring, everything is becoming the same. So we thought it was interesting for the brand, and for the cities, to do different designs from one place to the other."nnCamper is a family-owned company; Fluxá's grandfather, a Mallorquin farmer, founded the business in 1877 and his father went on to establish the brand as we know it today in the 1970s. Fluxá says that this allows the company to experiment with different design approaches for its stores without worrying about the commercial impact.nn"We're lucky to be a privately-owned company, a family-owned company, so we look at the long term and we try to do things that we like to do," he says. "Of course, we think it's of benefit to the brand. It's given a lot of identity to the brand, and customers recognise it. While shooting some timelapses, we saw a huge bright flash in the sky. It even lit up the entire ground. We looked up and saw a huge streak across the sky of burning dust. I did the calculations and the dust fell from the sky for at least 50 frames of my timelapse. Each exposure was 15 seconds long, so that means the burning dust fell for 12.5 minutes. CRAZY!!! I got really lucky and captured what I believe to be a meteor explosion with a resulting, expanding shock wave or debris ring. nnUPDATE: After being fortunate to have Universe Today cross post my vid, I learned more about the phenomena recorded here. While this does show a meteor breaking apart, the resulting, expanding ring is called a "persistent train" and is NOT a debris ring. Rather, it is glowing gas - charged gas that has been heated by compression caused by the meteor and giving off electrons (similar to how a neon sign works). It happens fairly often but it isn't so regularly documented.nnhttp://www.universetoday.com/104149/incredible-footage-shows-a-perseid-meteor-exploding/nnnBecause I shoot at much higher resolution than 720p, I was able to provide (2) sequences in this video: (1) is with the full frame of each capture scaled/reduced and then cropped down to 1280x720, and (2) the other is with the full frame kept at resolution with just the region around the explosion cropped to 1280x720. We are proud to present a brand new collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger.nnFor this project we have joined forces with Onitsuka Tiger to rework the 'COLORADO EIGHTY-FIVE' - a trail running shoe originally launched in the mid eighties for the great outdoors. Inspiration for the release was drawn from the 'aurora borealis' and continues a theme we adapted to an earlier project with Onituska Tiger's younger brother ASICS in 2010.nnCommonly referred to as the 'Northern Lights' the Aurora Borealis is a natural light phenomenon that occurs in the northern hemisphere and observed at night during the winter months. For those lucky enough to see it, the skies are transformed from darkness to a multicoloured light show.nnOur edition of the COLORADO EIGHTY-FIVE nods to our northerly location where the northern lights can be seen at varying points of the year. As the initial idea stemmed from Onitsuka Tiger’s stripes and ribbons of light created by the aurora, both the lateral and medial sides of the shoe differ in colour application, whilst to reflect the night sky, the upper is nexecuted in a mix of dark purple, blue and grey.nnFinished in a plush calf suede, the shoe features a fully colour blocked EVA and rubber outsole, a lux red satin collar lining and tongue backer, dual branded suede tongue patch and debossed logo call outs on the heel and back tab overlays. Additional detail appears by way of a sunburst perf toe box, sublimated print night sky footbed and three lace sets.nnThe Onitsuka Tiger x Hanon COLORADO EIGHTY-FIVE 'Northern Liites' is released on SATURDAY August 31st 2013 with a global release of September 7th.   Less
