The presence of a curtain of high trees along the south-eastern perimeter of the site and a dense vegetation near a south-western stream stand out in the landscape.nIn the centre of the property, in a high position, there is an old rural construction in an advanced state of degradation.nThe proposal for the Monte Novo da Cruz seeks to establish a contrast dialogue between the existing and the new building which sometimes merge with each other, creating a smooth transition between the past and the present. This relationship is materialized through two types of intervention, placed at different levels on the ground:nIn the upper level, the intervention consists on recovering and expanding the existing building for owners' house. The planimetric composition is made up by a succession of spaces, which ends with a double height common lounge with a central fireplace. On the north-west side are located the main entrance and supporting spaces intercalated with small garden courtyards for natural lighting and ventilation. On the south-east side, to the contrary, are located the main spaces overlooking the garden and pool.nIn the lower level, the intervention results in a new independent building that adapts to the topography of the site and uses the slope of the ground to differentiate the owners’ house of the guest areas. This long volume, half-buried and perpendicular to the line of trees, preserves the scale of the house and reinforces the verticality of vegetation. Its unique façade is characterized both by a wide opening framing vistas of the landscape as well as by a stand-alone pergola reducing the amount of direct sunlight coming inside the rooms and providing privacy for guests. At the level of arrival the building is almost imperceptible to the eye, only a long terrace with seating areas for contemplation of the surrounding nature is visible.nThe connection between the two volumes is developed through a central courtyard, the heart of the whole complex. In october 2013, a famous design school in Paris, ENSCI les Ateliers, hosted a workshop organised by the French Ministry of culture. The idea was to use images, videos and sound fallen in the national pubic domain and use them in a sort of “Mashup”. The event was called Public Domain Remix.nnThe students had one day (8 hours) to pick their digital material and transform it, hack it or remix it.nnLe FabShop, was invited as a digital manufacturing expert to help the students realise their project.nnAfter a short brainstorm, all the teams came up with similar ideas, except one, who really went out of the box with their concept. They had this silly idea of making a machine that could automatically create tattoos taken from a bank of images. They learned from le FabShop's representative that their concept was more than feasible. It could be prototyped by themselve, using the school's equipment. nnIn one afternoon, they managed to hack a Desktop 3D printer and enable it to trace on skin, using a pen instead of the extruder. The crowd was amazed and the Minister of culture even came to see the projects, but the young designers didn’t want to stop there. They wanted the machine to make REAL tattoos, on REAL skin, so they kept working on the project during their spare time, with some help from teachers and other students.nnThey borrowed a manual tattoo-machine from an amateur tattoo artist and found some artificial skin for the first tests. They chose to draw a simple circle. The perfect shape to test the precision of the process. It worked! But now they had to find a volunteer to be their “guiney pig”…nnSomehow, they had no difficulty. A lot of people where excited by the idea of being the first human tatooed by a “robot”.nnThe big difficulty was to repeat the same exercise on a curve surface and on a material that has much more flexibility than silicone. Many tricks were tried to tighten the area around the skin ( a metal ring, elastics, scotch tape...) but the most effective one was a scooter’s inner tube, open on the area to be marked.nnTo suceed, everything had to be precise and calculated. portrait n by milkyeyes and enrico ascolinnn"portrait" è un progetto più' vicino alla videoistallazione artistica che al cortometraggio . infatti non è un cortometraggio , è un video che mostra semplicemente dei ritratti che sembrano delle "pitture in movimento" . questi ritratti non sono dei volti semplici , ma saranno delle elaborazioni "pittoriche", grottesche ,oniriche , astratte e surreali di fotografie di persone reali attraverso l'uso di diverse tecniche di compositing e fotoritocco da fotografie originali . l'elaborazione digitale pittorica delle immagini verra' in un secondo momento "mossa" con una tecnica di compositing di photoshop e after effects che daranno alle immagini fisse un senso di leggero movimento camera intorno al volto . questa lunga lavorazione che integra fotoritocco astratto e movimento dell'immagine da un senso di bellezza surreale al tutto tanto da pensare di farne un video , un video dove appunto non succede nulla se non la messinscena di questi bellissimi ritratti astratti "vivi" , con la possibilità' di inserti di elementi estranei animati all'interno della scena che interagiscono con i ritratti .nnil progetto può' avere diverse destinazioni e finalità' quali mostre d'arte , videoistallazioni artistiche , eventi legati all'arte in generale , ma anche festival di animazione , di video sperimentale , gallerie ecc……. nil formato può' dunque oscillare tra la videoarte e il cortometraggio sperimentale . nnil video sarà' accompagnato da un sound design minimalista e d'atmosfera che aiuterà' a creare una dimensione onirica al tutto , e in maniera più' mirata determinerà' la dimensione ambientale in cui sono inseriti i personaggi .nn nogni ritratto durerà' circa 4-5 secondi , l'idea è quella di farne intorno ad una cinquantina , dunque il video nella sua totalità' avrà' una durata che va' dai due minuti e mezzo ai trenper la realizzazione del progetto prevedo circa 3 mesi di lavoro . nninformazioni tecniche :nntitolo : portrait ndurata : 2,30 minuti nformato : full hd 1920 x 1080 nlinguaggio : nessuno ndirector : Donato sansone nideazione : Donato sansone ncompositing : donato sansone nsound : Enrico Ascoli Less
