The day after I installed the new forklift battery into my tiny house solar power system I spent most of my day watching the solar panel output and power going into my new solar battery bank.nnThis is like off grid TV. When you live fully off the grid and on solar power you will spend a lot of time studying the power output of your solar panels and analyzing the power usage of the equipment inside your home.nnIt was a nice sunny day for solar so I kept my eye on the MPPT solar charge controller and kept watching how much current was going into my new solar forklift battery bank.nnThis actually occupied most of my day.nnLater in the day my friend Neil came over with some surprise gifts for the off grid solar homestead.nnHe did not know that Saturday was my birthday but he came bringing gifts.nnNeil brought me a nice HAM radio tower that I can use to mount my wind turbines nicely up in the air.nnThis tower is just over 30 feet high and you can put an extension pole on the top of it.nnThere is also a lift mechanism which will allow me to mount my wind turbines to the lift and use a pulley and rope to raise and lower the lift so I can service the wind turbines as needed. I got my DC generator moved over behind the tiny house on wheels so that I can charge up my new solar forklift battery bank properly before I can really start to use it for tiny house solar power.nnSo far I have been running my little HF 800 watt generator and a battery charger to put some power into the battery bank each time I use my computer for video work.nnBut finally I had Chris help me get the DC generator moved over to the tiny house on wheels so that I can use it to put a real charge into my solar forklift batteries.nnI had to run the HF generator a while though to bring up the voltage because when I connected the DC generator cables it bogged the engine right down and stalled it out.nnAfter about 15 minutes with the HF generator and the battery charger set at 20 amps I was able to connect the DC generator and pump some real current into the big forklift batteries.nnMy DC generator is made up of a gas engine and a car alternator rated at 130 amps. I am guessing I get between 80 to 100 amps out of it.nnI ran it for about 8 hours on this day to charge up the forklift battery properly.nnToday was vehicle maintenance day as well. I had Chris put a new engine coolant temperature sensor in the old truck as well as a brand new O2 sensor.nnNow the truck runs like a new vehicle. I cant believe the difference. It starts and runs smoothly and the engine is actually running much quieter now.nnI never found the O2 sensor because it was broken right off at the base. I was looking for a while. Chris could also not find it before. (Sorry for the poor quality)nnWhen we started the original MIGHTY MORPHIN' POWER RANGERS my producers wanted me to duplicate the economical shooting methods used by the Japanese film makers back then for the fight scenes while still using standard Hollywood coverage for the acting scenes. That is precisely what I did by employing some of the techniques seen in this video - although with a better camera and a much smaller crew.nnIn this video you can see some of the Zord footage we used to splice into our show as it is being shot as well as the Japanese stunt team and actors at work.
