But is it hot? or not? The Heat stars Sandra Bullock as an FBI agent who is desperately looking to move up in the ranks, and is promised a shot at a promotion if she can successfully take down a Boston drug lord. During her investigation, she finds that in order to accomplish this task, she will have to work alongside a reckless, abusive, but very effective Boston police officer, played by Melissa McCarthy. The two have very different investigative styles, which causes them to face some real challenges as they try to crack the case. Now I recently screened this movie, and I have to admit that I was actually shocked at how much fun I had. Now, with that said, Bridesmaids director, Paul Feig, took absolutely no risk in directing and producing this film. Sandra Bullock plays the same type of character she's played in the past, and the same thing goes for Melissa McCarthy. I mean, how many times have we seen these two women in some sort of police/cop/undercover role? And both actresses have played these quirky characters with similar types of improv and comedy before. But they are really good at it, and that's kinda the reason why people will go and see this movie. The plot line of this story isn't epic, so you're not going to walk away dissecting the inner workings of the plot, but if you're in the mood for silly, improve style humor, I feel confident that you will laugh a lot. And there are definitely some one liners in this thing that will keep you laughing long after the line is delivered. And to be honest, it was kinda nice to see a buddy movie work with two women as the leads. This is a genre that men have been successful at for years, and the chemistry between these two gives me hope that we will... Less
