This was Kimbo's first loss - and what a loss it was... nnnKevin Ferguson (born on February 8, 1974), better known as Kimbo Slice, is a Miami, Florida-based street fighter turned mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He first appeared in several filmed underground fights which have spread primarily on the Internet. Kimbo has since left street fighting behind and is now putting his efforts towards becoming a professional mixed martial arts fighter. Rolling Stone called Slice "The King of the Web Brawlers"nnKimbo Slice began his career in unsanctioned street fights. A notable street fight was with Sean Gannon, a former Boston Police officer who trains in MMA. In a brutal fight Kimbo lost for the first time. The popularity of the fight, which was distributed throughout the internet, propelled both men into the MMA spotlight.nnTo prepare for sanctioned MMA fights, Slice was trained by retired MMA fighter Bas Rutten. Slice made his sanctioned MMA debut against former WBO Heavyweight champion boxer Ray Mercer at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 5, in Atlantic City on June 23, 2007. The match was scheduled as a three-round exhibition utilizing all professional rules of MMA combat. Slice defeated Mercer with a guillotine choke at 1:12 into the first round. In a post-fight interview, Slice stated that he would like to fight David "Tank" Abbott. Abbott, who was a spectator, stood up from his seat and accepted the call out. One of the matchmakers for CFFC asked Slice for his assurance so that an October 12 bout at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 6 between Slice and "Tank" Abbott could be organized. This event was later canceled due to a promotion dispute. On October 11, 2007, ProElite announced that they had signed Slice to a deal and that he would make his debut on the November 10, 2007 EliteXC. Originally set to make his professional MMA debut against Mike Bourke, the reformed street fighter was set to face Bo Cantrell after Bourke sustained a shoulder injury. Kimbo defeated Cantrell 19 seconds into the first round by submission due to strikes.nnSlice will be featured on The Iron Ring, a new television series airing on BET which features MMA prospects. Slice will be a part of the selection process for the participants.nnOn February 16, 2008, Kimbo fought Tank Abbott in the main event at EliteXC: Street Certified. He won by KO 43 seconds into the first round due to strikes. At the fight his weight was announced at an all-time low of 234lbs, a far cry from his street fighting days of 280lbs.nnOn May 31, 2008, Kimbo fought in the main event of the first ever mixed martial arts event shown on prime time network television, EliteXC: Primetime. Though one of the judges had each fighter winning one of the first two rounds, Kimbo's opponent James Thompson won both on total points by repeatedly taking down Slice and grounding and pounding. In the opening seconds of the third round, however, Kimbo threw a haymaker to Thompson's left ear, which ruptured Thompson's cauliflower. This was soon followed by three unanswered punches to a standing Thompson, which led to a referee stoppage and a controversial win for Slice. Fellow EliteXC competitor Brett Rogers was particularly critical of Slice's victory, calling Slice's performance "garbage" in a post fight interview. nnA Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock fight was signed for October 4, 2008 to take place at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida as part of CBS' "Saturday Night Fights". Seth Petruzelli replaced Shamrock due to a cut to the left eye during warm ups only hours before the fight was to take place. Petruzelli defeated Slice by TKO 14 seconds into the bout. Less

Pat Curran and Joe Warren promised fireworks in their main event Featherweight Title Fight, but it was Curran who stopped the former Champion Warren in one of the most entertaining Bellator bouts seen in recent memory. The last time the Bellator Featherweight Championship changed hands, it was Joe Warren stopping Joe Soto at Bellator 27. Pat Curran, the Bellator Summer Series Featherweight Tournament Champion, was looking to capitalize on his second tournament championship with a victory in the main event at Bellator 60. The first round opened up at a feverous pace, with both featherweights exchanging blows. After hurting Warren with an onslaught of punches and knees, Curran pursued "The Baddest Man on the Planet" looking for the finish. Warren, however, showed why he is the defending Bellator Featherweight Champion, as he found a way to avoid being finished. In the second round, it was Warren who controlled the fight with his Greco Roman wrestling for a majority of the round and seemed to be building some momentum in his favor. When the third round started, Pat Curran came out energized. After landing a knee to the chin of Warren, Curran followed up with a barrage of strikes that forced the referee to stop the fight. Less

Retirement:nnOn September 22, 2009 Jackson wrote in a blog on his website that he is "done fighting". Speaking on his personal website, Jackson said: "The UFC has done a lot for me but I think I have done more for them. The UFC bought World Fighting Alliance to get my contract and they saved my life, so I felt loyal to them.n"They pushed me into a fight with Chuck Liddell even when I clearly stated I wasn't ready to fight for the belt because the American fans didn't know me but I took the fight and didn't complain and after I won, the American fans booed me for the first time which changed the way I saw them and it hurt me deeply.n"Then before I can even get out of the cage they announced that I was fighting Dan Henderson without even asking me. After I beat Dan Henderson, I made history in becoming the first undisputed champion in MMA but was never even given the Pride belt in the cage and I was never promoted as the undisputed champ. Later Anderson Silva was.n"Then they had me coach TUF season 7 and fight Forrest. The fight was very controversial and normally when a fight is that close and controversial there is normally an instant replay. I can name a couple of instances.n"Instead they offered me the Wanderlei Silva fight which I gladly accepted even though I know it was a very risky fight for me to take because of all the drama that was happening to me at the time. I fought that fight with a jaw injury and then a couple of weeks later Dana called me and asked me to fight Rashad. For the first time I said 'no', I didn't want to fight because it was such short notice and I wouldn't have had a long break between camps.n"Dana talked me into fighting Rashad anyway but Rashad refused the fight and so I had to fight Jardine as a favor to the UFC instead of getting my belt back (which wasn't even worth it to me financially).n"Then I re-injured my jaw in the fight with Wanderlei and Jardine. Frank Mir gets hurt so they wanted to switch my fight from UFC 100 to the fight Frank couldn't make it to but I couldn't fight cause I needed jaw surgery. So they give [Lyoto] Machida the fight against Rashad and they told me they want me to coach TUF season 10 against Rashad.n"That's why I wanted Rashad to win so bad but when Rashad got knocked out I told them I wanted to fight Machida for the belt but Dana told me if I coach TUF against Rashad that I could fight Machida afterwards cause this was a different type of ultimate fighter show they were doing.n"After I signed the contract Dana then changes his mind and says I have to fight Rashad and even told me what to say in the press and so my fans think I was scared to fight Machida.n"After all that, I still never complained and I did it all. Then this movie role came about that I have been trying to get for over a year and as soon as I found out I was close to getting it, I called Dana right away and asked to push the Memphis fight back just a month or so. I told him what this movie role meant to me.n"I told him that I used to bond with my father watching the TV show as a kid when my parents where still married and it represents the memories I had with my father when we lived together.n"My dad became an alcoholic and addicted to drugs and we grew apart. But after my dad got his life back together, I was so proud of my dad and I told him I would always take care of him in the future and make him proud of me.n"My dad and I are still very big fans of the show and I am basically doing this for the childhood memories I had spending time in front of the TV with my dad.n"Dana went on the internet and mocked me because of that and I still did nothing.n"Dana and I finally talked and we made up and then after that he went back on the internet and said some b***s*** and he was talking bad about the movie when information is not even supposed to be released and talking about payments which is not even true could really hurt my future acting career, which could very well last longer than my fighting career.n"I'm not like Randy Couture. My body has been getting so many different injuries that I wont be able to fight until my forties and neither do I want to fight that long. So I feel like my second career could be in jeopardy, so I'm done fighting.n"I've been getting negative reviews from the dumb ass fans that don't pay my bills or put my kids though college. So I'm hanging it up. I'm gonna miss all my loyal fans but hopefully they'll follow me to my new career and I will gain more loyal fans along the way.n"All you hater fans out there can kiss my big black hairy ass and anybody that don't like what I just said can come try to kick my ass!n"I still feel the UFC is a great organisation and I felt like I was very loyal to them but they didn't respect my loyalty but I wish the UFC the best. I did a lot of things for them.n"I wish no bad blood between me and Rashad. I have kids and a family back in Memphis to provide for thats all that matters to me!" Less
