comments Linn Co. sheriff tells Joe Biden he won't enforce new federal gun control laws An Oregon sheriff has sent a letter to Vice President Joe Biden, declining to enforce any unconstitutional gun regulations that come out of the White House this week. The letter, posted on the office's Facebook page, states that Sheriff Tim Mueller and his deputies swore an oath to protect and uphold the Constitution, which includes the right to bear arms. "Any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the President offending the constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies, nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Linn County Oregon." The letter has gone viral, the sheriff said. By 6 pm the letter had more than 16000 shares and nearly 13000 "likes." "It's kind of humbling. I didn't expect it to go quite where it went, but if it can cause some intelligent" conversation on the topic, Mueller said he's thrilled. He doesn't think Biden will see the letter, but he thinks there might be a chance. Mueller said he posted it online mainly to address the concerns of people in Linn County. Mueller said sheriffs aren't allowed to enforce federal laws. He treats federal immigration laws the same way. He said that, like other law enforcement, he supports comprehensive background checks. He does not support limits on a person's right to possess weapons. And ... Less

It is considered one of the genre's most important and influential recordings for the forthcoming rock 'n' roll. Origins Hooker moved to Detroit in 1943, attracted by well-paying factory work. Taking up residence in Detroit's east side, he found a position as a janitor at Chrysler. After work, he would take in the sights and sounds of Hastings Street, the cultural center of the city's black community, called Paradise Valley. The scores of blues and jazz clubs, many of which Hooker would eventually play in, would influence the lyrics of "Boogie Chillen'". The recording Hooker presented the song to local record store owner and producer Bernard Besman. Liking what he heard, Besman brought Hooker to United Sound Studios, located at 5840 2nd Ave. in Detroit, to record the track with Maurice King who later became Music Director at Motown. CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - One of the teenagers charged in an assault that left a boy with a broken jaw admitted his role in the attack to police and told them he had been "mad at the world," according to court documents. Keenan Baker, 16, of Cedar Rapids, made a brief initial appearance Friday morning in Linn County District Court. He has been charged as an adult with one count of assault causing serious injury, a class D felony, in connection with the Aug. 21 incident that left three boys injured. Linn County Attorney Jerry Vander Sanden said Thursday his office will ask that two other assault charges against Baker be waived to adult court to join the felony count. A second boy accused in the attack, 15-year-old Tyress Martin, of Cedar Rapids, is charged in juvenile court with one count of assault causing serious injury and two counts of assault causing bodily injury. Prosecutors have filed a motion to have Martin tried as an adult, but a judge has not yet ruled. According to witnesses and police, four boys were walking home from Washington High School on Aug. 21, when they were attacked by two other boys in front of 368 20th St. SE. According to one boy's mother, one of the assailants yelled "Get off my block," before her son was punched from behind. One of the victims, 15-year-old Christian Meek, spent two nights in a hospital for a broken jaw and a severed nerve, his mother said. Another 15-year-old boy had his two front teeth knocked out, but doctors were able to replace ... Less

(my response) Three people were injured at an outdoor sports complex in Oregon when a monster truck struck a barrier and plowed into the crowd during a Labor Day Weekend show. The injured, whose names and conditions had not been released today, were taken to the hospital in Eugene, Ore., for treatment. Deputies with the Linn County Sheriff's Office said the victims' injuries were not life threatening. Dan Mills, owner of the Harrisburg MotorSports Complex in Harrisburg, where the accident occurred, said he believes the truck's hydraulic steering went out during a race, causing the driver to lose control of his vehicle. "It went to the right and there wasn't anything he could do to stop it," Mills told The Associated Press. "This was my worst fear - what happened. ... It was the freakiest thing I've ever seen." More than 1000 spectators were on hand to see "Monster Air 2012? on Saturday. Despite the accident, Mills said a show scheduled for today would go on as planned, however as an added precaution, spectators would not be allowed in the area where the accident occurred. This is my response to video of a Monster Truck that went out of control and drove into a crowd of people at an event in Oregon 9-2-2012 Note: This is a response video.
